Rubbing down Carbon Fibre, no no?

Just thinking about tarting the little splitters up at the front of the car, they are already looking a bit tired from the odd scratch and stone chip! :(

I was thinking about rubbing them down to remove the surface blemishes and then re-lacquering them, I have some nice high build stuff at home from my Dad's garage that leaves a lovely deep shine! :smokin:

What I don't want to do those is fook the splitters up by rubbing the surface down, so long as I only go down to the lacquer it should be ok shouldn't it?
