Old csl clutch

This was the clutch that was slipping after the new engine went in
You can see the springs that take up the slack

You need a better camera Mark :hahaha:

The springs in the pressure plate is the self adjusting mechanism - basically allowing the pedal travel (if it had a clutch pedal) to be consistently the same throughout the life of the clutch kit.

There's a reset tool that they use to reset the self adjusting mechanism when the pressure plate goes back on.

You should check for heat spots on the flywheel and the friction surface on the pressure plate.

Here's the tool in action:

The crappy plastic OEM release bearing that causes majority issues

And the sleeve that also causes issues when it's worn

Just wondering, it says in the csl manual that launch control causes premature wear of driveline parts or something like that. I know the clutch won't last pissing time doing launch controls but what other parts get wored out or broke???

How many miles do you guys get before finding the clutch needs to be changed?

Various items:
- Engine mount
- gearbox mount
- guibo (flex disc)
- driveshaft bearing
- diff mount
- diff
- CV

So basically anything that is linked to the drive train.

I think you'll find that the clutch friction material actually lasts quite a while, but other parts will probably fail before then - i.e. release bearings ect ...

Hi guys,

How often do (did) you change your clutch ?

alexk 17-08-2009 08:01 AM

Guys, no one has changed the clutch up to now ?
If that's the case, then I am good.
