SMG Clutch Slip

Firstly Happy new all!

Quick question, is it usual to get a bit of clutch slip when going hard with you foot flat to the floor on the throttle when changing up gears say, 3rd > 4th > 5th under strain? My old SMG didn't didn't do this, but it was not an CSL, and was pre software upgrade.

I wondered if its just feathering the gear change, or if there's a setting / issue.

Clutch is only 30K old, but again, don't know if they get eaten up that quickly.

cheers in advance

John

You'll probably get a lot of conflicting answers on this :)

Mine is prone to doing it, but it seems to improve after a while if I drive hard and don't lift at all when changing. It's been like that since I've had the car, and seems to be common to many cars.

NZ_M3 has played around with SMG diagnostics/calibration more than most, so you might look for some of his earlier posts.

This is what I was after ;0) cheers. John.

Put it in S6 and it should stop doing it. If it does then you know that it has just adapted to the (slow) way you are driving it (due to the crap weather). Once the weather improves and you give it the berries again, it should re-adapt back to normal (IME).

Thanks. S6 in this weather will be fun ;0)

Take it out, warm her up and spank her. Full throttle, everywhich way.

Actually, solved a fair few problems that way....

The S6 method is a bad idea in my opinion.

The issue is in the SAC (self adjusting clutch plate) and the SMG adaptation. Overtime the SAC adjustment becomes out of sync with the SMG adaptation hence the slip you experience.

My experience with this is a simple clutch slip point recalculation under the GT1 which will usually solve it.

If it's really bad, then reset the longitudinal acceleration sensor also ... and always remember to reset the clutch curve

Hi m8

I am installed new clutch kit, flywheel, engine mounts, trans mounts on my SMG car which has CSL SMG software.

Should I be doing the above as per your guidelines or something difference?

I am told I will need to run the bleed system test, what is that?

clutch slip from 5th to 6th when using paddle shift

Hi wonder if you could advise, I have a CSL. I have clutch slip when changing down to accelerate. I can se the revs rise, drop and rise again in clutch traction. say 6th to 5th.
could someone clever advise if there is a clutch curve reset I can do without garage help using some combination of paddles/buttons etc?. Before I bought the car the diff was changed for a new one under warranty for a slur into gear, which sounds the same. I don't track it or drive it often. it has 52k on the clock, so not many miles on the clutch I guess.

if not and a dealer is required, would warranty approach ( i have warranty) or a trip to Bartlett be a best bet way to get help? I don't have the software shown in the clip below.

I don't post really just read .
thanks in advance
