Having seen quite a few threads on this, but apparently missing the important one, are BMW carrying out preventative work on cars with no issues?

Mine's on a full warranty and a 54 plate, so a little time to go before the 10 year goodwill period expires, but having just had a load of work done, i'd be inclined to get this sorted as well if BMW are doing it?

2004 cars came with a 12 year body corrosion warranty anyway. So you've got ages ! 10 years is for Pre 2003 6 year body warranty cars ;-)

Not as far as I'm aware. That's the concern I had, as mine had no cracks, so with the 10 year goodwill fast running out I just went and got it done myself

The subframe issue is nothing to do with the corrosion warranty.

Are you sure ? The good will is 10 years. If the problem was spotted before 6 years on pre 03 plates then it would be std warranty.. Perforation body warranty. 04 cars onwards it changed to 12 years.

BMW Elms (Stanstead) are the experts on subframe repairs and replacements having done almost double figure repairs on csl's.
Get your car booked in asap...Mine was diagnosed by Sir Gareth of Elmshire in March......collected the car 31st July.
There is a bit of a waiting list!!

When I was in with MProve they were saying they reckon it's caused primarily by hard 1st & 2nd gear acceleration. Good you're getting your one fixed though
