Anyone with upgraded LSD? (3.91 or 4.10)?
hey guys
was curious if any CSL owners have upgraded their LSD from the stock configuration to BMW motorsport 3.91 or 4.10. anyone? edit: Final Drive Ratio NOT LSD |
You are talking about the final drive ratio not the LSD - that the lock diff.
The final drive is a torque multiplier and running a shorter final drive means faster acceleration at the trade off of top speed. |
Not aware of any CSLs on UK forums that have done this modification.
There's one man thats just done it to his M3 though and loves it. 4.10 I think. |
Woppum has it on his CSL, TonyR did it many years ago on both of his.
I've got a Drexler plated LSD with 4.1 final drive that will be going in soon. |
Oh aye, forgot Woppum was getting it done over the festive. Not been on Mtorque in an age.
|
Someone else got it done, which is why he did it (albeit on a normal M3).
Sounds good... but find the car quick enough as it is! |
Im going to do this ASAP i'm back to the States soon so i will hand carry a set from Turner motorsport back
I will let you know how i get on with the car once fitted. |
Did you get it fitted?
How did you find it? I'm getting one next weekend so interested to know how it goes. |

I had 4.10 on mine for a year or so. Couldn't stop the wheels spinning in every gear so took it off. :banghead: |
Interesting, cheers. I hope the 3.91 is a little better on that front... though I'm not sure what problem with lighting the wheels up is :)
4.1 sounds just a bit too extreme I reckon, that's what my 140bhp 318iS had on it. And imho the 46 is already a bit buzzy, at least by comparision to the 36 Evo. Did you notice much diff in terms of eco? Quote:
