Munich Legends
Booked my car in for oil service at Munich Legends... has anyone here used them? I have seen many good reviews for them...

Tho I tend to use Elms now, much like everyone else on here. |
Yes mine came from them, been stored one winter, had adjustable TMs fitted & geo (old school way), fitted exhaust etc oh and a £2k inspec II but as above I would use Elms now for major stuff. Munich legends is 15min drive for me and will prob take it there for my due oil service only.
Didn't think Stuart was there anymore as girl is now on reception (possible sex change?). Not been there in ages. |

I used Munich Legends for my e34 M5 fifteen or so years ago when Barney was there and then a couple of years ago to get my rear box bracket sorted due to the common snapping of the bracket. It sits on the wrong side of the flared join between the centre and rear sections.
The job seems to have lasted and although on completion I had to push them to their estimate price I was happy with them. It would be nice to hear your opinions on them once you get the work done. Pip |

I thought my car was mint, with the full BMW history! I thought the slight rattle on start up was normal as it went when the car warmed up... anyway, once she's done she will be mint! I'll keep you updated with progress and service from Munich. |

ML just carried out insp 1 and an mot on my 330 - thorougly impressed here.
Stuart is still there, everyone seems friendly, honest and very knowledgable. I know of 2 other guys at work that have M3's that both use them... I fell out with my main dealer Chandlers over damage they caused and wont be back unless I have to... (5 mins away). I just might have come to an agreement on a csl at ML so they would be nice  Without going into too much detail Dan who owns the place gave me a full tour of the workshop area and facilities some time ago, all very keen, Dan is borderline 'M' obsessive and is a font of knowledge. |
ELMS is the best place 10% discount
I would travel even if they where based in scotland, but lucky for me only 35mins away  |
I have been Munich Legends to give my M3 CS the once over and to get the paint readings measured. I was very impressed overall by them and was a 200 mile round trip.

Scotland that would make it much more expensive negating any discount. Surely there are other competent good BMW Dealers out there other than Elms ? And is heavily based on the M3 .... |

Think lots use Elms, because unlike most dealers they try their best to get the warranty work done. No cutting off their nose to spite their face.
I nearly kicked the shit out of a bellend from my local BMW dealers. It's not always about cost, its about peace of mind, and I would always pay a premium for that. |

Elms is obviously brilliant and many people on here have excellent experience. My experience with Munich has been first class so far. I love the fact that they talk to you about the car in great detail. The service manager has just rebuilt his own M3 engine. They really know their stuff. I have some damning news about a main dealer but need more details before posting.
Lets just say, just because a car has full BMW history does not mean it's been well looked after! Except for Elms! I will never use a main dealer again... Elms excluded. |

So, I picked up my car on Thursday from Munich Legends... the oil service turned into a full check of the car, that resulted in various faults being found :crybaby:
1. Blown head gasket 2. Leaking PAS hose 3. Light ride height sensor not working 4. Rear exhaust mounts perished 5. NSR spring cracked 7. NSR upper ball joint requiring replacement 8. Exhaust flange repair required They had the car for 8 days... but now she's all fixed and sounds better than ever. The head gasket failure is common on cars above 60,000 as the tolerances are very small... see picture below. The replacement gasket is stronger. However, my head gasket failure was caused by overtighening by previous technician after checking value clearances.. that we're incorrectly done. ML comments are; "valve shimming found to be incorrect. All shims too tight. 15 new shims needed to correct. Cylinder gasket split in 4 places". http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s64a04448.jpeg Anyway, I am extremely lucky as the head was ok and did not need skimming... something not recommended hence I could have needed a new block... CSL block impossible to get hold of? My car could have been a write off! Well there are two great garages to look after your CSL - long live Elms and ML. Finally, they told me my bloody boot is cracked... now I need to get that fixed...:bigcry: My car waiting to be taken back home... whilst I was there there were 2 black CSLs in the showroom... http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...sd6a334a8.jpeg |
The head gasket problem could have got scary :smt107
We're there any signs the hg had failed prior to you dropping it off at ML ? |

On cold start I used to get rattling, when warmed this would go but after a while I noticed faint engine smell in the cabin. If your car is idling poorly and rattles on cold start better get it checked. |
Hmm, one of those two black ones was mine, now in even ruder health after a full ML going over. Also had a cracked boot floor which they sorted for me through Vines, very impressed.
Unfortunately now sold.... Has it gone to anyone on here? |
