Where did you get rust?

I had an aweful time keeping rust out of my old e36? I didn't know the e46 was prone also?

billyboysm3 12-09-2012 09:34 AM

Man UP Shimmy!!!

She's not worth selling. If your getting bored get a e36 M3 or e46 M3, strip it, stiffen it up and race it!!!

Did BMW pay for this?
A friend with an M3 has really bad rust under paintwork on both door mirror mounts but said 'sorry not covered as it's not part of the bodywork'! I Didn't quite believe what he told me and would have gone fookin mad, insisting it being done.

My friend had this covered on his mirror bases on a regular e46 M3

Really odd place to get rust..?

Why are you thinking of selling it Shim? what have you got in mind?

s.mac 12-09-2012 08:03 PM

mirrors aren't covered as they are classed as trim, that's what I was told.... where its mounted to should be covered

92k but always garaged

yes lock one is a body corrosion claim
so on 12 year warranty (for us 2004 cars)

mirror bases are trim and not covered

I was thinking today has anyone checked under any of the trim or body kit as such as in the door catches .... ?

I presume the door catches get rust because simply water collects there during the car wash ?

Any idea how long it takes to rectify ?
Also, what is there procedure ? Do they use a quick SMART repair (I have been told often they are not of good standard) or some other process :-) ?

Many thanks :-)

PS I hope u get sorted ASAP and perfect again :-)
