Rs29's
Going to need some new front and rear for ap's at some point
Ive used several places before. Can anybody recommend anywhere good to buy from please? Cheers, Gav |
Questmead
Have you considered any other makes? I highly recommend and use Carbotech |
Thanks Lawsy,
I'm up for trying the carbotech. What's the main difference? Like the feel of the pagids and how they last/ good to discs etc. Had looked at quest mead before, thought it was only for traders? |
I am also needing new rear pads, was going to get RS29's again for the same reasons, they seem to be kinder to discs than most 'race' pads. Are all rear ap's the same? I know where are 2 different versions of the fronts. My calipers don't seem to have any part numbers on them...

I know there are different sizes of calipers, front or back not sure.
I'd like to know what I've got and how to find out as well. |

I will always try to help if you need Pagid's ? most from stock or direct if not.

Ive been very pleased with the RS29's :-D

It did snatch at the back a little, that was with xp10 front and rear. So I went 12 front 10 rear for Spa/ring, it did seem a little more composed. It always felt Ok to me, but others watching commented on how it seemed twitchy, thats why I staggered set-up. Shitty Alcons you see:hahaha: |
Liking the sound of the carbotech's
Does anybody else here use them? |

I wonder if slicks would make th performance of pads change and therefore affect choice of front and rear pads? |

no real benafits, xp10's are more expensive and are more prone to squeal. plus alot heavier on discs. if you happy with rs29's stick with them. if for whatever reason your not i'd go upto xp12. |

I started braking later, that was one of the most noteable things going from A048's to slicks. How much later I could brake. After following you and watching you, I felt that the slicks made my car behave the same as yours did on cups. The A048's just didnt have the same grip/composure as cups. But yes, tyre choice should be made in conjunction with pad choice. I just prefer the carbotech, I have noted no excessive wear on discs. My CSL is still on the original Alcon discs and has been through 2 sets of ds2500, 1 set of RS29's and 3 sets of Carbotechs, about to go onto 4th set. Discs are still good, I reckon ill get this year out of the discs. Thats approx 12k road miles and approx 10 trackdays and 1 ring trip. |

You are running K Sport and they are prone to pads sticking as piston does not return 100%, this would cause your squeal. |
My rs29's front and rear need replacing and I'm happy with the set up/handling and disc wear so will buy again.

Any of you chaps know how to identify calipers? Everyone tells me it has part numbers on them, clearly mine must be the set that don't have any....I know the fronts are differentiated by whether they have dust seals or not, are the rears the same? |

gav the lancer register is full of info on the xp range and they'll be a pad to suit your need. two thread may be worth a read before committing. http://www.lancerregister.com/showth...ght=xp8+squeal http://www.lancerregister.com/search...rchid=14411054 |

Likewise I know loads with no squeal, but some do. I guarantee your K Sports do hold the pad ever so slightly against the disc compared to AP, its to do with the seal behind piston, is square rather than round and it stops the piston being as free as say the AP's are. Standard Evo brembo and K sports seem to suffer more. |
