Wheel Spacers- few basic questions

Hi All

I am considering getting spacers for front and rear for my CSL.

I have searched the previous posts in relation to various options and to understand more, from what I can see the common spacers are 10, 12 and 15mm. I am no expert so apologies in advance!

I have KW V3 on my CSL with AP BBK all round - I want to add the spacers to give a more aggresive stance but I dont want to risk any tyre meeting wheel arch issues when the suspension compresses. I assume that with spacers fitted I have to be careful on the ride height settings- is there an optimum ride height to ensure no issues or is it a try it and see and increase if any rubbing is noticed? Or any other suspension settings that may require adjustment?

I would appreciate any guidance on this before I hand over my hard earned and any recommended UK suppliers I can order from?

I am also fitting new tyres next week and having the tracking done- will adding spacers mean I have to get the geo done again?

Cheers
Nick:)

My gut feel is that you'll have a new target time by then!

Best spacers are from rogue engineering in the states......end of.

I would stick 12mm all round, you will have no problems....

Nikey30 23-05-2012 03:44 PM

Thanks for the reply mate, I will get in contact with them and get them ordered.

Cheers

H&R are fine, especially when used only in compression between the wheel and the hub, had no probs with ether my 10mm or 15 mm ones.

Nikey30 24-05-2012 04:20 PM

Thanks Duncan, where did you get yours from?

Mark CSL 24-05-2012 11:38 PM

Well I am glad I am not the only one here wanting to ask these sort of questions :)

I am not much of a Car Mechanic etc infact a complete noobie, I will stick with PC's etc, So any one that can recommend a good place to go to online / shop (P/N) to get these spacers / extender bolts. The car at the moment is standard so I am looking for just 12mm or 15mm all around to give it a little more stance on the road

Many thanks in advance for the help.

I know 12mm fit all round on CSL and possibly 15mm as well. I guess M3 does not have rolled arches so might struggle with 15mm and Convertible struggles with 12mm on rear.

Nothing wrong with Rogue, H&R, Eibach as long as they are hubcentric and you get the correctly lengthened bolts (and locking bolts of needed). Don't buy Eibach 10mm as they break on BmW.

northernjim 02-06-2012 10:25 PM

I've got 12mm all-round with 255 at the back and no rubbing on my not a Csl

Should be trying some 265's soon too

shimmy 02-06-2012 10:43 PM

are your arches rolled Jim?

No. He was feeling mine up at Donny..............................the rolled arches I mean!

northernjim 02-06-2012 11:00 PM

Nope....... I fingered Alex's arches at donny - wafer thin compared to my big thick rim....

Mine will be getting lowered soon too :smokin: so I'll be checking my arches closely

( actually meant to ask you for a side on shot of yours with your track rims on and your oem's and you ride height too please....:beer: )

Shimmy: Uh, that's classified.
NorthernJim: It's what?
Shimmy: It's classified. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.
