One Less CSL on the Road

Well folks,

Some of you will know already, but my CSL was written off a couple of months back. It's been a hugely difficult time, but after some seven or eight weeks of unpleasantness, I finally breathed a sigh of relief today when the CSL payout popped into my account.

It wasn't a very straightforward case and it took a while for those concerned to meet their respective obligations to rectify the wrong that resulted in my P&J being laid to rest in someone's field.

Anyway, here she is. Take care out there people.

RIP Cecil :(

ouch but it could have been worse....

who blanked the reg? does it matter now

did something run out in front of you? the roads looks pretty straight. Dont answer if I missed a thread somewhere :clown:

Great Pretender 25-05-2011 09:13 PM

There was another car involved. Won't say too much, but two cars into one lane don't go, so I had to go somewhere else.

Anyway, I've accepted the offer to settle and that's the line drawn in the sand.

I blanked the number :)

azrael 25-05-2011 09:17 PM

Is a good job you havent got a supersprint or the vultures would be in by now.

Thats a big drop too so lucky the car stayed on its feet!

How long did you have it for?

Great Pretender 25-05-2011 09:20 PM

Had it for ten months or so.

It was the best car I've owned yet. Loved it to bits.

Mark CSL 25-05-2011 09:28 PM

Look on the bright side if you had not been on cups i dont think you would have got that far down the field :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

Good no 1 was hurt and there is always CSLs for sale

Silver Bullet 25-05-2011 09:36 PM

Just what I was thinking;)

Some poor fucker will buy it, and the advert will read, "light panel damage", just like they all do:banghead:

Great Pretender 25-05-2011 10:13 PM

Well be rest assured folks, if it does find it's way back, I'll be sure to shout about it.

mattCSLnut 25-05-2011 10:15 PM

Real shame to see Cecil like this :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry: at least you're OK
Any plans for another CSL ?

TANKSLAPPER 25-05-2011 10:24 PM

rstoughy 25-05-2011 10:28 PM

Simon,
Like i said on the phone a few weeks back i'm gutted for you.
Glad it's all sorted out now and you can move on.
How's the move going?

AlexGTT 25-05-2011 10:28 PM

Really sorry to hear about this but glad you have the payout ok.

derek 25-05-2011 10:41 PM

sorry to hear about the car !

LeinsCSL 25-05-2011 10:45 PM

That's fairly crap alright, but at least you've got it sorted and are still around to tell the tale

need4speed 25-05-2011 10:55 PM

A sad sight; at least you walked away! Good luck mate.

cslgirl 25-05-2011 11:01 PM

Crikey, really sorry to hear this. Poor Cecil. Glad you are ok. Will you buy another?

Yanto 25-05-2011 11:19 PM

Ouch, never nice to see. Glad to hear no persons injured Simon - as precious as we are about motors, they are just lumps of metal (albeit mega ones !) at the end of the day.

Bounce 26-05-2011 05:27 AM

Sorry to see this, glad your ok;)

Pip1968 26-05-2011 07:05 AM

Always a shame to see a lovely car go that way but at least you seemed to have come out unscathed, physically at least. I take it you opted not to buy what was left as you could have had a nice garage sale.

Can I ask what the settlement figure was. I obviously understand if you do not want to say.

I was only reading yesterday about the CSL which was involved in a big pile up with a German GT3 RS on the Nordschleife. Was that anyone on here? It must have been a while ago now although settlement appears to have been recently completed. All the usual hassles of insurance cover for British cars on a 'toll road'.

shimmy 26-05-2011 08:27 AM

Wow, that's a big jump.

Glad it's settled and you have a clean break.

sailorbaz 26-05-2011 08:48 AM

Oh shit Simon, that's not good at all. Sorry to see this, I'm sure you got a huge fright but I suppose whichever way it happened, you done the right thing and avoiding a head on. (Apologies if I'm reading the situation wrong)

Will you buy another?

ando 26-05-2011 09:26 AM

Sorry to see this mate, glad you walked away.

Ando

whopwop 26-05-2011 10:46 AM

Jesus that was a serious slap allright, lucky choppy that she didn't role on you.
I know exactly how you feel. I wrote off my last one after 34 hours of ownership ha ha, it was a minter, 8k on the clock. ( it ended back on the road )
I then bought one of the slightly slower grey ones.

Rutkowski 26-05-2011 11:18 AM

ouch - but i am glad you're ok. Metal can be replaced.

DuncanR 26-05-2011 01:39 PM

Sorry to see that Simon, glad you were ok, and pay out all sorted. Respect to you mate :supz:... for obviously not lifting:hahaha: judging by the distance travelled and the amount of hardcore you took out, Cecil went down screaming at 6000 rpm I hope ! Look forward to you getting back into one.

Said person is on here, I will leave him to comment should he so desire.

Great Pretender 26-05-2011 01:54 PM

Cheers for the thoughts folks,

I'm going to hang fire for the time being as there are some grown up things to buy first.

I may well come back to the fold though; I still think the CSL is the best sub-£50k car money can currently buy.

E46CSL 26-05-2011 02:35 PM

Glad it all worked out well, and you are here & have the money to get back into a CSL.

Bad news fella, not been on here for a while due to being somewhere else in the world where the internet isn't exactly in abundant supply. Glad you're ok and all is sorted. :smokin:
