Brands Hatch Indy lap times!

What lap times does a CSL do at Brands Hatch Indy.

Just wanted to compare against the race cars this weekend.

Daz and Curlys best in Standard Class CSL CUP were 54+ secs so Id guess around 52 secs for a CSL would be about right:bigcry:

shimmy 25-10-2010 12:38 PM

sorry i meant 57+ secs :hahaha:

Curly 25-10-2010 01:03 PM

you should be in 55 shim on cups its a short lap

Both of our cars were actually M3's as well that season, with just slicks and a bit of weight shaved off .. so agree with Curly around 55/56

shimmy 25-10-2010 01:24 PM

Clives E30M3 at Snett was about 1m 26+ so say 6 secs slower than the CSL. (but Snett is a pooooower circuit to a degree) and at BRands Clive was running 57sec+ so i guess 55-56 is gota be about right although the E30 handles well on the shorter slower circuit

Dan 25-10-2010 02:37 PM

When we were there back in the summer I think I timed Matt at around 58/59secs on his Dunlops and KK was a few seconds quicker on his Cups.

I was slow as fook as had never done the circuit and couldn't get the line right! :bigcry::hahaha:

Don't forget KKs fancy after market suspension  and my well used O.E. stuff :bigcry: which as good as it is @ the Ring  doesn't suit Brand's "short & twisty" circuit that much :bigcry:

_Nathan_ 25-10-2010 02:43 PM

Gent's e46 was in the 48s earlier this year :D

Nah, dont think the CSL is the right car - too quick and not really in the spirit - after seeing Clive in the MAzda, low cost has got to be the way forward as long as you have a few mates doing it and some other cars to race!

Anyway - i could always get Thorney to detune the MX5 and add a few Halfords spoilers

Shimmy,

Going back to your original question....

My last track day this year was at Brands Indy.

According to my Racechrono software, in my fully spec'd heavy M3, with Kuhmo V70a's, HSD coilovers, and AP front brakes my best time was 57.01 seconds.

I'm still a bit of a novice, so I would have thought a decent driver in a CSL could knock a couple of seconds off that?

Cheers Paul, sounds like a v good time!

Paul_D 30-10-2010 09:48 AM

It was quite a good day as many went home early, leaving the track quite empty.

Being able to do a few clear laps in a row seemed to make quite a difference in improving.

This is one of my better laps from the day, (although not the best) and you can see how empty the track is.

The Gorilla 30-10-2010 10:02 AM

Hi,

Andy Prialux was testing on the Brands Indy
circuit in Oct 2008 with the 2007 spec car.

It was in a 2007 WTC spec car, but not the
car he actually races.

Was not cold but not warm that day,
Track was very dry and was quite well 'rubbered',
they were doing some testing on tyres with revised
Suspension settings etc.

His best lap that afternoon was 52 secs +/-,
they said that in full race spec etc then they
would expect about another sec or so off.

What was interesting was they did 2 full on laps
with wets, in the Dry.

Something about how rapid progressive tyre degredation
impacts on suspension and handling.

There was also Z4 M in ETCC spec, but I never saw that do
any laps that afternoon.

Don't know if that tells you much.

Regards,

The Gorilla.

I was doing about 1min 2/3 which I didn't think was too sad for my first track day on a cold Feb day, with cups.

Kev Clarke's car dips into the 48s on new rubber, too.

Anyhting sub 50 secs is good for a E46 racer. Anything above starts becoming fodder for the E36 GusBus! (best lap 51.1, but will be nearly 1 second better on new rubber)

I think mine and Chalkie's road CSLs used to be in the 54s on cups, but that was a while back so my memory may be wrong!

Phatgixer 02-11-2010 12:24 PM

:D

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away this happened :hahaha:
