Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 2010

I have booked a trackday at Spa with Mitsubishi Lancer Register on Bank Holiday Monday 31st May 2010.

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=299736

We had about 10 CSLReg members there last year

http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1712

Myself and maybe one or two mates (both with cars, not CSL's though) could be interested in this as we are planning a Ring trip around this time and may well take the opportunity to tie this all in together :)

Tell me the protocol shimmy, when do you go, come back? etc where do you stay? how do you get there?
Very interested in this:supz:

shimmy 03-01-2010 12:49 AM

last year MLR was BH monday early May and some guys went out to the Ring Friday and Saturday to do TF days Saturday and Sunday, then either stay at the Ring Sunday night and travel Monday early to Spa. Home Monday night or Tuesday morning.

others , like me who were not allowed out by the wives, drove over Sunday to Spa and home straight after the trackday to Uk, staying one night only in Spa

anything is possible.

Ring is 4 hours from Calais - and Spa only 3 hours from Calais - 1 hour between the two.

Some northern monkeys ferry Hull-Zebrugge overnight to try to tap off with the hen nights and others either Dover-Calais ferry or Eurotunnel both ways.

My guess this year is there will be a big load of us who do the Ring and Spa.

I will likely go out Saturday early - Eurotunnel say 10am - Calais 12 noon - Ring 4pm in time for beers then spend Sunday at the ring and probably travel to Sap Monday early for the trackday. Maybe go straight home to uk or stay over.

Last year quite a few of us left Spa 5pm and got the Eurotunnel around 10am and were back at home by midnight

Yanto 03-01-2010 12:19 PM

Guys - would this suit a track day virgin ??

Intend on getting in the saddle this year but sounds like it could be in at the deep end ?? :smt102

Definitely! Nice long (and wide) F1 track with decent run-off most places, with only around 60 cars and OPL - so doesn't get too busy.

MLR days tend to be well controlled and drivers courteous too ;)

That's good then cheers, I will have a chat with him about this as my mate always does Dover - Calais ferry, but Dover is 3hrs+ drive from us! :banghead:

That's also good news as it'll be my first proper one too, only ever passengered at tracks before, although if we do the Ring a day or two before Spa then that'll be a baptism of fire! :bigcry: :hahaha:

From what I read you don't have to be an MLR member, click and read the links in Shimmy's thread, they have some good info on there

Yanto, Spa last Nov was my first ever TD mate, and it was wet, its a great place, big run offs... well in places ... should you need them of course !;) Think of it as the M6 ..with tighter bends and you will be fine ! ( speaks the voice of experience after 2 TD's :hahaha: )

Lucky sod managed to catch the "Super Beetle" doing it's usual thing , after touching the green stuff. So modest about it all, too. :wanker:

Agreed. Sounds like a decent chap to me. He was proper freaked out! Bet he had a nice long cuppa before going back out for a couple of gentle ones.:hahaha:

DazBlackCSL 05-01-2010 02:34 PM

Looks like im gonna spin the coins in the direction of the MLR chaps and join you gaymen

DuncanR 05-01-2010 02:34 PM

Well... since you posted that video of Spa, i have spent all morning producing my very first ever video..and with sound ! Its taken me about 4 hours to finally get everything sorted including the size of video for youtube etc., apologies for the soundtrack, its all i could come up with as the camera is waterproof ! and yes , i know its shot from inside the car !;).
I love that turn 17 at Blanchimont where the chap went off on the grass, which is what prompted me to make the video in the first place as I couldnt for the life of me remember the grass divider being there, I thought it was all solid runoff ! so I played my video back to confirm and lo and behold there it was ..grass, I shall make a note of that for May, where I can see I need to be looking for sub 3 mins to be mixing it with you track gods !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HByy0PZfEE

Yanto why dont you sit back, relax and listen to Beethoven whilst memorising the track layout at Spa ! Dont for one minute presume though that I was always on the racing line and hitting all the apexes...if any !
