Track day instruction, Recommendations???
As title really, having only done a handful of trackdays ever, and only 3 in the csl, im going to get some track tuition. I feel I have much much more to gain, but teaching myself has its limits.
Any recommendations on who to get? All opinions welcome:thumbs: |
Mike Wilds http://www.mikewilds.com/racing.html
Sean Edwards http://news.seanedwards.eu/ Both come highly recommended |
For Oulton you will get nobody who teaches like Tim Arnold
Faling that Curly (Dontdobends) is nearly as good :smokin: |
Mike Wilds is my reccomend and he certainly knows how to steer a CSL. Last year he won the Britcar in an ex WTCC 320Si Beemer :)
|
There is td @ oulton park 01/12/09 and mike wilds is there doing instructions. Run by opentrack. See opl website.

I can also recommend ourselves as your official advertiser ;)
I'm not one for saying me me me, but seeing as you asked it might look odd if I didn't pipe up. A few of your fellow members have experienced our training - some in more depth than others. If you'd like to know more information drop me a PM. Otherwise I trust you find the best instruction to meet your objectives  Jo |

Can recommend CATDT & will be back for more next year. Tried 3 others & they are by far the best.

One of Tim Arnolds Mates called Howard is pretty local to OUlton & he isn't stupidly expensive - he has been training a pals son this year who has done very well indeed in his first year competing in cars.
I would be happy to give a track day organiser £20 to have a session of instruction from whoever is there - there are quite regularly some top instructors on track days who know the circuit very well |

Only last year I took the instruction at oulton, I will not divulge who he was, he was ok, but I would not pay him to instruct me. Maybe he is good but I did not really get on with his teaching style, he came across as a bit lost. It may have been different having him for the full day, maybe. |

I think his wife also teaches. |
Just did a track day at Bedford on Saturday and used Adam Foster, 3rd last year in FPA Championship, he is hopefully one of the up and coming starts of the future. Bedford is such a good place to "give it the beans" as it has very generous run offs and very little armco ! Give him a go !

Gareth Lloyd is the guy if you are spending dosh on instruction at Oulton he's won loads of races there, really nice bloke and a CSL owner  |

Great guy though! I'd recommend Rob Barff, talent wise he has to be one of the fastest drivers in the UK. Not expensive either. http://www.robbarff.com/html/perform...ver_coach.html Would also recommend doing a car control course if you want to increase confidence, something like Driver DP. http://www.driverdp.com/ |

He didn't say much but he drove my car like no-one else had ever done before!! I then then tried to go faster & thought I would impress him again in the afternoon. He then went much faster still! The circuit he taught me at is my fave track in the UK and I raced there a year later & did ok! My driving came on leaps and bounds after that. I have had other instruction too but have often found having a chat with someone knowledgeable about the track can help more than having someone sat next to me. |
He has a massive advantage being based there, he is invaluable when showing a wet line as it's so different at Silverstone. Of course the circuit will all be changing soon...
