battery light

my battery light started to occasionally flash red at my recent croft track day. I thought it may be because it was getting a work out but now it comes on and off more frequently? any ideas ?
thanks

Happend to me mate on way back from the Ring, i thought exactly same until the light was constantly on when i got to France.

Alternator broke at the French Ferry :(

Get it checked asap mate

shane@mbtech 13-07-2009 07:56 PM

yeh, prob the regulator playing up, it will eventually fail, flattening your battery leaving you stranded

shimmy 13-07-2009 07:59 PM

I'd get that one checked out soon ... if it's the alternator, it can leave you completely stranded.

Just been reading some of the older posts on this - scary stuff ! looks like I was lucky to get the thing home with the light on !!

Gonna lean on the warranty & BMW assist here. No point in driving the fecker now after reading Glendogs & Gastro's experience !!

Bealo 01-04-2010 06:56 PM

This bloody happened to me this morning!!!

Managed to get car home... just... called BMW ES and within 40 mins a mech was at my house. Checked it out and confirmed it as alternator. It was on the back of a truck no more than 1 1/2 hours later and i've just received a BMW 3 series hire car for 1 week.

Got to say i'm well impressed with the speed and quality of the service.

Scary how many alternators are failing though.

DazBlackCSL 01-04-2010 07:11 PM

Yep mine went 2 weeks ago, light been and off for ages, then once stayed one I called the BM ES guys, he followed me rather than stick it on a trailer, but it coasted to a halt about 5 miles into my journey to the dealer, good job he was behind me and stuck on a new battery.

i have noticed that UK CSL have more defects than german CSL...

-Vanos rrrrrrr or totaly defects
-generator defects

in the german M-Forum are this defects unknown on CSL, curious.

hmm, let see what will happen me this saison...

Nords 02-04-2010 08:22 PM

Bugger, mine has just started doing this but only from 7K revs plus. I have but the battery on a trickle charger, but I'll get it the alternator checked...

:bigcry:

glendog74 02-04-2010 09:48 PM

You're not a 'proper' CSL owner unless you experience a red battery light at some point! :hahaha: :hahaha:

:bigcry:

What on earth is happening here...!? Mine has started today, again only above 6-7k... nothing below that. Wonder if I need to worry about it for now as I really fancy breakfast club on Sunday but at the same time don't fancy being stranded in the middle of nowhere. :banghead:

Nords 03-04-2010 01:29 AM

Are they all programmed to fall apart..... about now?
