Stranger in the camp!
Not been here for a while so thought I'd blow the cobwebs off my log-in details!
Was looking for an "Other Marques" section but none to be seen, maybe could do with one? Anyhow, replaced Cesil with an E92 M3 Comp Pack (thread somewhere but pics probably disappeared). Great car, did everything you could ask from it with little or no effort. Unfortunately it bored the ass off me. So, it was time to move it on and find something loony to replace it...this in now in my garage  https://s19.postimg.org/4ghlhsc0z/fullsizeoutput_b2.jpghttps://s19.postimg.org/kha6ur9wj/fullsizeoutput_b3.jpg "02 plate, 41,000 miles, yes they want to kill you in the wet but knowing that might help a bit. Induces a manic grin when opening the garage door, a car should do that but very few actually do  |

Great car.. i love them.. what a mad little car this is.:supz:

However, then again, wearing one back to front could possibly be a fire hazard what with having a thumping V6 just behind your head  |
I think the v6 is a fire hazard in itself :blalalala:
|
Good to see you are alive & kiking.
Great car. Enjoy. |

Would be very surprised if I lost money on it however, this has been bought to use. |
That's cool :smokin:

Had an E92 DCT in 08'. Like you said........boring. Never had a pax/drive in one of these beasteez. Loving the 911 at the moment. Much more challenging to drive than the ever forgiving CSL. |
Quote:
Good to hear you're enjoying the 911  The Clio is nowhere near as fast as it looks, only has a relatively measly 230bhp. The engine is a bit of a thumper as opposed to a highly wound up screamer and it's best described as sharp rather than fast. Haven't had chance to drive it hard as yet, maybe given its reputation for visiting gardens that's not a bad thing! |

I used to own a Ph2 Clio V6 painted in Illiad Blue and i really regret selling it... A fun to drive definitely and a future classic for sure. Don't see it as investment and keep it in your garage, JUST DRIVE IT!!! ;) |
Is this a phase 1 or 2? I can't tell :bigcry:
I was thinking about buying one before i ended up with the CSL, i liked everything about it except the engine. I felt it just wasn't special enough. But the rest of the car is bonkers.. wish BMW had the balls to make something like this :banghead: I really like that it still faintly resembles your run of the mill clio but nearly every part is different. Just like the old Group B Rallye Homologation Street Cars :smt055 |

It's been bought for driving  Had the CSL for investment and, although it paid off handsomely, it was killing me seeing it sat in the garage and me being afraid of harming the value of my "investment". I know most here don't approve of my ethos but, thats what it was. Not interested in going down that route again. |

The engine is a bit of a grunter as opposed to a high revving jobbie, it's not fast in modern terms but that's not why I've bought it, it's been bought as it's an occasion to drive it and it invokes a daft grin just by looking at it. Already a fair bit planned for it, Tomorrow it's in for the fitting of a MetaTrack Cat5 security system. Next week it's in with the guy who detailed my CSL and my E92 for the 2 stage polish and full gTech treatment i.e. outside, inside, glass and wheels. 29th it's off to a specialist near Chippenham for a new cam belt which is an engine out job, which leads to a few other bits whilst it's out such as water pump, pulleys if cracked and a clutch. Looking to change the back box as it's a bit on the quiet side but, with not many being about, I'm not exactly inundated with choices! When they were raced in the ClioV6 Trophy series the exhaust was made by a French company, Orbisound Technologies. Contacted them and have ordered one which should hopefully be here mid / late Sept. Spoke the guy who's doing the engine stuff and he said they're expensive but unbeatable when it comes to sound and quality so, thought sod it...get one! |

I presume you've taken the car to Scott @ SG? If so, can't praise him enough, he looks after all the "toys" and nothing is ever too much. Truly nice chap also. Tell him Nathan says hi. |
Quote:
That's who it's going to on the 29th  |
Out of the detailers after 6 days of pampering, the guy takes OCD to another level.
https://s19.postimg.org/piq4o1d9f/fullsizeoutput_b8.jpg Have also managed to locate a clear engine cover, ordered the new fasteners and, as soon as they arrive it'll be fitted. Definitely a nice view over the shoulder  https://s19.postimg.org/4lyyghlk3/IMG_1001.jpg |
He missed a bit just under the number plate.
Only joking. :hahaha: it looks the dogs boll*ks |
Time to pop out of the woodwork again, hope all are well
Loving this retirement lark but, now have more time to look around the car and see what can be done next on it! The good news for my wallet is.......there is nothing else to be done! Yes, I know, they're never totally done when you are infested with the modifying bug but the way it is now is virtually ideal in my old eyes. For saying it was going to be kept oem it's had what might be called a few changes. Ph2 wheels, KW V3 coilovers, 2 piece brake discs, Alcantara steering wheel, Cobra RSR seats custom made in blue, Replica Trophy rear spoiler, originals NLA Replica Trophy front splitter, originals NLA Quicksilver back box, decided Orbisoud cost was extortionate, Electrically operated fire system, Harnesses, As it is now it's heading towards resembling a V6 Trophy race car. Strangely though it was starting to look a little bland (as if a Clio V6 can be described as bland) and as though something was missing. Not to everyones tastes but decided to go down the route of applying one or two of the decals as applied to the Trophy cars and permanently bonded tyre lettering from the good old USA......blandness gone! I think the car is mad enough looking to carry them off. Shortly going on a Euro trip with it, 3 days at the 'Ring, down into Switzerland to drive a couple of mountain passes, into France to the Vosges area then calling in to see the old GP set up in Reims prior to heading home. Looking forward to it. However, there is one thing I don't like about the car..the attention it receives when it's out and about. It's nice to know that it's something different just like you will with the CSL, the difference I've found that, unless someone is into cars, the CSL sails under the radar. That's not really possible in this! Now I no longer live the life of a traveller I get the time to go to more events and meets, I just park, lock it and wander off out of the way. Might catch one or two of you around and about...you can't miss me  https://s9.postimg.cc/7oaetd3dr/2987...48729548_o.jpghttps://s9.postimg.cc/6airxjgtr/2987...20682827_o.jpgupload imagehttps://s9.postimg.cc/rpeqvtgyn/0236...8_BA51_DE9.jpg |
Both nice cars

Even as oem it has a tremendous road presence, mainly to do with the width of it possibly? They're also fairly aggressive looking things also. In oem mode they certainly look dated whereas I think the CSL is a timeless design. I feel the mods have taken some years off it....bit like an old bird having Botox :hahaha: Note you're in Germany, if you're close (ish) to the Ring will be there evening of 04/05 until early 07/05. |
thanks for the invitation, unfortunately im located near Nuremberg which is on the opposite end of germany.. but if you happen to be near Nuremberg when you drive to switzerland you can drop me a message and we can meet up?
Would love to see your clio in person. |
Long time no see. Glad you are are alive and kicking and enjoying life.
Car looks superb. Can't believe you are planning to take it around the ring. Does that mean you might join us at Sneterton this July? When in the mountains make sure you make the motor bikes work hard to get by you. Lots of fun. Don't forget to take a sat nav that gives you warning of all the accident black spots. We want to keep you safe. Have a great trip & don't forget to post a write up with pics. |

You mis-read...it says going to the Ring, not on the Ring. Even if I fancied it I wouldn't dare take it on. Body panels are NLA so not worth the risk. |
Quote:
And there was me thinking you were a changed man & taking your car on one of the most risky tracks. :hahaha: Let us know if you are passing this area now you have all that time on your hands. |
Small update, appreciate it isn't everyones cup of tea....but then again, is anything?
Euro trip was brilliant! 3 days at the Ring, some wonderful cars on show, then down to Switzerland and a flying visit to Italy. 2600 mile in 6 days although not much of that was done whilst at the Ring. It's the sort of trip where you're going to love or hate your car by the end of it. Temps were in the high 20's and low 30's...bombing along in an old Clio with air-con that is useless at the best of times, a red hot engine more or less in the car with you, open the car windows and it's hot air coming in, getting out doing a fairly good impression of looking as though you've been in a sauna,..all pretty good reasons to hate it. Completely bonded with the car and all of its madness ..never once thought "get me out of this sodding thing" and never once dreaded the idea of getting back into it. Anyhow, it's now in with Blueprint in Notts until early next week, then it's straight to a mates place in Derby for approx 3 days, it might look slightly different when it reappears from there  https://s19.postimg.cc/hcksn9i6r/DSC_2611.jpghttps://s19.postimg.cc/o4tl9cvn7/fullsizeoutput_1df.jpg |

Glad you had a great trip & enjoyed the car.
It brings back memories of a trip in a Ur Quattro. No aircon & it took me at least 5 showers when we arrived before I dared go down for dinner. Guessing a wrap. Be interesting to see the finished result. |
Beautiful pictures sounds like a fun trip

Lovely.
You just need to get it on track now so it will feel at home. |
Superb, be prepared for a lot (more) attention on the road from Joe Public. I found that when I had mine stickered up for the NC500, was epic and always got positive comments.
