Bad News from Elms

I'm afraid our favourite tech is moving to pastures new.

Wishing him all the best for the future & hope everything work out.

I take it you mean the one and only Sir Gareth Of Elmshire?

Where's he going to work?

Yes, the one & only. Somewhere nearer home, don't know the garage's name, but he has not gone to a main dealer. Hopefully he will still be able to work on our cars with the added bonus that the hourly rate should be cheaper.

Bummer. I was booked in with Gareth on the 20th May for it's routine service, pads + discs, and a general fine-tooth-comb going over..

Any recommendations closer to home (Nottingham) guys?

O'Neill 03-05-2014 07:35 AM

Bad news for Elms as they will lose some CSL customers.

Good luck Gareth  keep in touch mate:beer:

You will be ok. He is not leaving until the 28th.

He is booked out until he leaves. No new clients.

Marv968 03-05-2014 08:54 AM

Damn, got my car booked in on Wednesday. Has he left already, or is he working his notice?

Hope we can find where he's moving to and hopefully he's not moving too far away from East Anglia!

shimmy 03-05-2014 09:24 AM

BMw won't match this new one. He's off 28th as Trawler says not too far away up the A1M.

s.mac 03-05-2014 11:46 AM

Hi everyone I'm afraid it's true I am leaving at the end of May to go and work for a BMW specialist in Huntingdon ( Bartlett Automotive ) . Gives me the opportunity to do a bit more that I can't do working for a main dealer . I no we have software to remove top speed limiter from the csl . Basically everything main dealer except warranty . I hope some of you will follow me but understand that now no longer at a dealer if you don't . I will post more details in the future . Wish you well

& thank you for everything, Elms will miss you, and so will many of us who need to get warranty/ BMW dealer work done.

sailorbaz 04-05-2014 01:45 PM

Good luck in your new venture, was a pleasure meeting you in Munich.

pinkpanther008 06-05-2014 12:10 PM

Good Luck G

Good luck with your new career move Gareth, even if they dont say - bet they will regret you going. Not many techs around with your customer care and attention to detail. Those of us with a warrenty will be particularly sad to see you go. Go forth and prosper my friend.

Where will everyone be getting theirs serviced now and want to maintain FBMWSH :-) ?

I might use BMW Park Lane. Who is their best technician anyone know :-) ?

Thanks for all the kind words guys 😃

0836whimper 09-05-2014 09:42 PM

Best of luck Gareth, sorry to see you go.
I'll always remember the running in service, complete with dealer stamp in a Munich hotel basement carpark - legendary

remember it well....there I was in Leonardo's car park just giving cesil a wipe down after the "damp" anniversary meet and there was gareth armed with his vinyl gloves doing an oil service.......Elms management really are losing out....typical dealer mentality. Huntingdon are the winners, no question about it.

Neil M 09-05-2014 10:19 PM

All the best Gareth, your legacy will live on for years to come!
As my boss once said to me "Good doers are hard to find that's why we promote numpties" My thoughts "what does that make you?"

Hope you've made the right move, only time will tell but a least it's a change of scene.

Best of Luck

Good times , will remember the looks I got from hotel staff very funny 😃

portlandgrey 10-05-2014 01:01 AM

Best wishes for the new opportunity Gareth.
You'll be missed from Elms for sure.

GregorJP 10-05-2014 08:23 AM

Good luck with the move, Gareth. I'm particularly grateful to you for all the hard work you put in fixing all the usual CSL issues that my car suffered (new gearbox, top end rebuild, etc), and for making sure BMW honoured the warranty.

My CSL is tucked up in storage now, hopefully get her out soon and bring her to see you at your new gaff.

shimmy 10-05-2014 08:43 AM

Gareth.

Get yer head down, you're got loads of work to do before you leave :). No sickies, no vacations, 24/7.

See you on the 20th

How are you with e36 325?
