Wethje Carbon Hood

Hi, looking for a wethje carbon hood, looks exactly like this.

Anyone know where I can find one for sale or know someone who is selling theirs?

Thanks

cf bonnet

CA Automotive stock c/f bonnets...not sure if they stock that make.

shane@mbtech 13-03-2014 09:44 PM

Last one I removed was far heavier than standard bonnet

This the one the CSL loaded has and it is lighter than the stock bonnet.
I wanted one too.

So I emailed them (in German) but they never replied to me.
It looks like they don't want business :)

From memory it's 6kg, versus 11kg of the OEM.

Alex - try getting your brother to email them. ;)
'Wethje' are the company that manufacture the CSL's Airbox or sold I've been told.
The website isn't much to look at: http://www.wethje-gmbh.com/ which suggests they don't sell to the public but manufacturer/supply components to the Automotive Industry, BMW in particular. :smokin:

I really like this bonnet.

I would paint it of course.

The vents are the interesting part, not necesarrily the 5kg ;)

Neil M 15-03-2014 02:38 PM

I thought that 'Loaded' used 'Schmiedmann' parts to create the look, including the vented 'GTR' bonnet: http://www.schmiedmann.com/3_series/...36.htm#1933931
I suppose the vented bonnet helped increase the air flow, with his CSL being supercharged.

Get the angle grinder and fit some vents to a spare standard bonnet Alex?

Got one!!!

Roland - mine seems to be without lacquer - did yours come like this too? Was thinking to have it lacquered first and then wrapped over instead of painting.

My one came with clear lacquer. Now it's sold to CSLR member. Couldn't resist his offer.

Ended up getting my Wethje hood lacquered by the guys at Simpson Motorsports. They did a great job!

Now gonna get it wrapped black to match the rest of the car.
