Subframe
Having seen quite a few threads on this, but apparently missing the important one, are BMW carrying out preventative work on cars with no issues?
Mine's on a full warranty and a 54 plate, so a little time to go before the 10 year goodwill period expires, but having just had a load of work done, i'd be inclined to get this sorted as well if BMW are doing it? |
2004 cars came with a 12 year body corrosion warranty anyway. So you've got ages ! 10 years is for Pre 2003 6 year body warranty cars ;-)
|
Not as far as I'm aware. That's the concern I had, as mine had no cracks, so with the 10 year goodwill fast running out I just went and got it done myself
|
The subframe issue is nothing to do with the corrosion warranty.

going in for an oil service next week and as its a 53 car it would be a good chance for the tech to have a look for cracks. Is good will repair 10 years from registration date or build date?
|
From first reg date, i.e what is written on the first page of the log book. You also need to be aware that the garage doing the repair must do it within one month of the goodwill being authorised. This means if there is a 3 month wait, the garage have to delay your paperwork 2 months to buy some time. Just pointing this out as most bodyshops have a long list of claims on backlog, and the 10 years is ticking away. Choose your bodyshop wisley.
