Lighter, more hardcore M4 (CSL)
All but confirmed in this months EVO, in an interview with M Boss Freidrich Nitschke.
Of course, those at the M presentation last May, during the homecoming in Munich, will already be feeling confident about this, but the latest does sound very promising all the same : EVO : "Will there be a lighter, more hardcore M4 ?" Freidrich Nitschke : "Of course we are thinking, for example, that Porsche is very successful with such special models in the life cycle. We did this in the past. And I think we will do this also in the future" |

If they do produce a M4 lightweight (CSL) version. It will be an instant swap from my E92 to one!

It's early days, but based on the initial reaction to the new cars, I think they need to get this version out a bit quicker. For the new M3/M4 not to get 5 star reviews has to be a sackable offence in Garching. Catchpole in Evo is underwhelmed for the same reasons as other journos.
Compare the response to when the E46 came out. |

So how has the mew M3/4 gone down in Germany with the press? |
Autocar only kind of gave it a warm welcome.
Will be interesting to see what the chimp thinks of it. |
His written review is on Pistonheads but the video couldn't be released in time due to embargo rules I think. Seemed to think pretty highly of it, but I think he judged it as an "M3 for the modern world" rather than comparing with their previous efforts.
