Bearings are just pot luck. Would be frustrating to change them and find the old ones were ok, would be even more frustrating to not change them and listen to it all go bang. I suppose if someone has the facilities / ability to drop the sump and do a bearing inspection it's a huge advantage. I don't have either :whistle: |
Interesting stuff. From a driving perspective did you have any indication at all that you HG had failed?
Also, what's the mileage on those bearings? |

No indication when driving ref HG.

Well, the 1200 miles are taking a bit of doing!
With me being away so much for work and the crappy weather we've all been having cesil rarely makes an appearance in public. Working towards having them racked up by early spring if poss then down to Barts for an oil change. Whilst there I'll get the aircon sorted as noticed last year that, if the weather is wet, the inside steams up like the local sauna. Have to use great self control not to ask the other half if she offers extras. Anyhow, will be dipping my toe in the murky waters of exhausts at the same time. Listened to so bloody many youtube vids the mind goes numb. It doesn't really help that the sound quality isn't always the best. Now that Barts do SuperSprint I'll likely be going down the route of a lightweight race back box and a non res centre pipe...and ear plugs in the door pocket in case. |

i took the plunge and had simpsons fit the SS race lightweight back box and the non-res centre. Running standard M3 cats. Noise level tested at Snetterton was 98 dB (6000 rpm limiter in neutral).
