This is probably not going to come across well but I still can't understand this way of thinking of waiting such a horrendously long time for BMW to fix it. Yes you're getting nice new cars in the mean time but as above, there's got to be a way to put the car back together and drive it! I guess lots of people have other toys to play with and use the cars differently, hence the big variations in mileage between members.

I guess also the big problem everyone is worried about is losing providence, the more standard M3 bits you add the worse it gets. You may not ever notice the difference, but I suppose it's still losing that little bit of specialness each time you don't put a genuine CSL bit back on.

But if it's the power you are concerned about I'd just put the stock M3 cams in for the time being whilst you wait for the CSL cams to come from Germany if it ever does!!

Non-CSL cams are also hollow (source - page 13)

I don't think Billy's too happy about 18 months in a hire car though...

Another question is whether you could even get BMW to fit a non-CSL camshaft under warranty. I think many dealers would just say "can't get the relevant CSL part, so can't do it". They'd be too worried about the standard M3 part being subtly different and trashing the engine at their expense...

I hope this gets resolved soon otherwise Ill end up selling the CSL and track car for some Pork or AMG!

Then 6 months after that Ill regret it. Just need to drive her.

I literally cannot clean her anymore.

I'd be surprised if Schrick were/are the nominated manufacture for S54 camshafts given the volumes involved. Would it make financial sense? Plenty of camshaft manufacturers out there and Schrick specialism isn't required for a large production run. What certainty is there around this information?

Dealer information to me is that the CSL camshaft supplier has changed after stock had ran down. The wait is for new camshafts to be approved from the new supplier as OK to fit, and that first batch failed testing.

As part of OEM engineering and industry this is believable to me as the testing and re-sourcing time frame is always long and drawn out.

We can all speculate as to who was/is the supplier and the reason for the change.

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-38...25mm-lift.aspx

Just for the record, the CSL cams are 268º Intake and 264º Exhaust; lift is unknown - likely the same as the stock M3 cams (12mm). In theory, even the 280/272 Schricks would be an upgrade

And the next batch are due for testing at the end of November.

How do they test them ?

After reading this thread I feel lucky about my recent experiences, Its a bit worrying the way BMW feels like its going to me, I had to wait over 6 months for some trim on my CSL, no idea of delivery from BMW after chasing each month:banghead:, then it just turned up out of the blue.
I had problems with brakes sticking on my week old M3 F80:banghead:, and had to push hard to get my money back, + no follow up from BMW UK and when I spoke to them basically couldn't give a Sh@~.
My wife's X5 has bad corrosion on the wheels which is covered by warranty and they have been on order for over 3 months and again BMW have no idea when they will turn up:banghead:. Which is a pain as want to change it soon.
They are certainly leaving the door wide open for avid BMW fans to go to Merc' AMG's, certainly feels like BMW don't care to me.
Very sad state of affairs, I never thought I would say it , but seriously starting to think about test driving a AMG merc's now.
Rant over.
Shawn
