Collected Cesil this morning and, to quote Damien "You're one very lucky boy".
I think you can add relieved to that  Headgasket :- it had broken between cylinders 1&2 and 5&6, fortunately no damage had been caused to either the head or the block. http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8n42mktk.jpg Bearings :- all worn to a degree as could be expected. However, 4 shells were quite badly worn. http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/...pswa32lx0v.jpg Well worth having the work done, might buy a lottery ticket tonight. |
Wow. Good catch pops!
I have an annual compression test every year (abt 3k miles) and whilst not a silver bullet, I think it's a reasonable (cost) check for potential prob. |

Gareth did a compression test and cylinder 5 took a few more engine cranks to get the reqd pressure up, he said at the time he thought it'd be the gasket. All good now so I can breathe again  |
Preventive maintainance at its best. Has got me thinking now.

Nice one Pops. Well worth doing for a bit of extra peace of mind

I was curious what the shells would look like - thanks for sharing.
