Collected Cesil this morning and, to quote Damien "You're one very lucky boy".

I think you can add relieved to that :whistle:

Headgasket :- it had broken between cylinders 1&2 and 5&6, fortunately no damage had been caused to either the head or the block.

Bearings :- all worn to a degree as could be expected. However, 4 shells were quite badly worn.

Well worth having the work done, might buy a lottery ticket tonight.

Wow. Good catch pops!

I have an annual compression test every year (abt 3k miles) and whilst not a silver bullet, I think it's a reasonable (cost) check for potential prob.

When I was down there having the brakes fitted I got a bit of a hint.

Gareth did a compression test and cylinder 5 took a few more engine cranks to get the reqd pressure up, he said at the time he thought it'd be the gasket.

All good now so I can breathe again :thumbs:

im gonna check mine this winter....cant recall in the last rebuld if the head came off coz if not its done 50k miles since it was checked.
