If you tell BMW to take the box out for clutch slipping and you are willing to pay for it as long as the clutch is worn below the limit thats fine.

BUT and its a big BUT if it is within spec i want warranty or good will to pay.

Thats how to tell bmw you want the clutch sorted as all the CSLs i have seen
and thats a few with some at 54,000 miles and the clutch was fine but flywheel had burn marks on it warranty picked up the tab

Cheers Mark CSL

ive asked to keep the clutch, what would you do if it looks ok and they still want paying, pay the bill then send the clutch to warrenty?

Mark CSL 17-03-2010 11:23 PM

No tell them you want to see the clutch and fly wheel before they fit the new items then if its fine go for the warranty

Not a penny till you have seen it :supz:

This could just be the tight Scot in me

Mine is showing sign's of this, didn't want to but might have to get it into Andy at Murkett's before the Ring/Spa trip, don't want to kill it over there!

My problem is the next inspection is due in around 5k miles and it's the bloody big one so I'll be getting it all done at once! lol

You won't kill it - it will get worse but I don't believe anyone has actually broken their car by carrying on driving it with the clutch slur?

Matt 18-03-2010 06:31 PM

ok, had another drive in it today, its miles better, almost sorted (more driving required), its also curred the lumpy setting off from stand still, when pulling away from the lights it would take sort of two attemps to get the clutch in, now its there first time.

I was quoted £1,225 for a new clutch, diff was done under warranty, i love the warranty.

If you have warranty get the diff replaced first and go from there, its sorted mine!

Is clutch slur the same as clutch judder? I have noticed that from 4th to 5th and even more so from 5th to 6th there is a certain vibration on up shifts - sounds like a muffled burrrrrrrgh.

Do I have the same issue?
