Don't forget I'm doing these times on standard suspension that's done 70K + miles, medium size Brembos @ the front only + a very heavy stock back box :bigcry:
No KWs , no AP racing Monster anchors or Supersprint lightweight exhaust
Lightweight solutions require urgently  Thank U please

I don't want to jump on Gaute's (Fuchsrohre) wagon as I really don't want to open up that can of worms:bigcry: but TBH you really don't need any of this for quick times around the ring. My car is completely standard, except for upgraded pads, fluid and hoses and I seem to manage ok.

How many laps have you done Matt?

Anyways, I had a female passenger in the car, i didnt wanna look too lame :hahaha:

Is you're reg ENVY, or something like that? If so, I passed you on the "back up hill straight" section on Sunday, maybe you're thinking of this. From memory you moved over pretty sharpish, had to brake and wait a few seconds for you but it's par for the course on tourist days. There can be such a speed differential towards the top end up there between the faster and slower stuff, as it should be foot to the floor for 20-25 seconds, that things like this will happen.

Hi mate. Good to see U lapping it up @ the Ring again, this weekend gone  I hear what U're saying and I think I'm doing OK with a relatively standard CSL but it's really HARD work to get it under the elusive 8 minute lap time :bigcry: as it is, with traffic and all.
I did 32 laps this weekend... 89 laps this year so far in the CSL (so the Jahreskarte is all paid off for 2010) and in total in excess of 500  since I started going to the Ring in 2004  How about U ?

Pretty much the same as yourself. Starting going in 2004, this is the third year I've stored the car over there for the season, and probably done about 400 laps in total.
Really enjoyed this weekend, thought it was one of the better one's of the year. Track wasn't too busy with hardly any closures, and the weather was perfect for the tyres, if not for the sun tan;).
Was very happy that I hadn't been passed once the whole weekend by another car (while on a quick lap)...until the last lap on Sunday evening when Nathan in his orange GT3RS put me in my place:birdman:

 Great stuff . I'm emigrating my CSL to Ze Fazerland next year, for 2011 once a month CSL Ring solutions
Yep the track temperature were PERFECT  for lap solution and I didn't see the oil gauge go much beyond the 100 mark + the coolant temp gauge stayed exactly in the middle (as it always does) The 15 -18 deg C temperatures were very kind to brakes and tyres too. My DUNLOP DZ02 still have about a 1mm left, despite their third Ring outing this year at the weekend  I managed to pass a few Porkers this weekend, even a couple of slow MK1 GT2 - GT3 ;) :hahaha: but got well clear of a RACE speck white GT3 RSR (or something) that literarily flew past me on the approach to Schwedenkreuz while I was touching near 150 MPH. He must have been on a 7:30 minute lap :119:
Any idea of your best lap times ?

glendog74 27-07-2010 07:20 PM

+325 laps in less than 24 months

It's already done - over 10 trips! ;)

XKaLiBaR 27-07-2010 07:28 PM

I have to say, I absolutely loved every bit of the weekend. It was such an awesome experience. I really enjoyed my last 3 laps, when I got tuition from a crazy german man in his z3 3 litre 230bhp car. I followed him round, and he showed me some great lines. His best lap was 8:20, and I can see how, after he took me round in it. He really didn't brake much and was able to carry the speed round bends.

I really want to go back, but it will be difficult for the next year or 2 :( I think I'll do a track day next time though, as I can't stand the bikers.

BTW I like your new Avatar pic ;) it's less disturbing then the last one :hahaha:

That's what i'll be doing from now on - 2 track days with some additional TF whilst i'm there - about the same cost as an annual Jahreskarte and a fair bit safer

Pretty much - my best was 26 laps in just one day and around 55 over a 3 day weekend; worst was 13 laps over a 3 days visit...

Makka Pakka! :supz:

Na, it was a z3 coupe. I think his name was Yan or something, and he was blonde and longish hair it had dunlops, kw v3 and pole positions. His son was in a 335i 370bhp. His there every week, if you see him, get a passenger lap with him. Really awesome for a car that's over 100bhp less than ours.

_Nathan_ 27-07-2010 08:25 PM

Matt - 1mm left on your dunlops - you want to be careful, if you are involved in a crash the police could fuck you for having illegal tyres...

I remember last year, i flashed him for about 8 laps, and he wouldnt move out the way. I had to wait till his brakes and tyres got hot and he did a cool down lap to pass him.

That's a load of bull, from memory i recall it was hardly a lap- 8 laps to keep someone behind is too long unless the difference is marginal, i recall you closed up just before the back straight so i thought your car was much quicker all round so pulled to the inside of the straight and carried on - only to pull away. I lifted aboutt 200 metres before the braking point to let you go through as you were much quicker through the technical section :supz:.

As for your mate, i can't comment as i don't know who you are referring to. For the record please send them my apologies...

With regards to the ring, I guess you were surprised me closing on you like that... - I was too considering you were much quicker at snett. I suppose the ps2's you had on tell some of the story as i expected you to be miles quicker. All that aside, i enjoyed our tussle  just got slightly prolonged as I was trying to follow Matt to learn the lines ala you and below..

Anyway no hard feelings :beer::beer::beer::beer:

Best way to learn is to follow someone who knows their way round. I too had been braking at lots of places i shouldn't be until this w.e

I'm back in Oct, so hopefully see you there for round 2 with your semi slicks...

Bring on Oct 2010......right where's my ring guide :drool:

I know ;) It's a public road and all that so normal road laws apply
Worry not ;) I started on about 2 mm on the inside edge and they still have about 3mm on the outside edge but for 100% sure that was their last outing @ the Ring. I'll finish them off at one of the up comming UK Track Days and then DZ03 here we come

I was referring to last year. I have a cool video of us at snett from april, il upload it for you.

PS2s were proper crap. They were like 2 days old, which made it even worst. More tread makes it less rigid i think. Since you were noob like me, we could of had a good run together, if we met on the sunday :(

Baby due in october 10-10-10. So no ring for me for awhile. :bigcry:

I do like your car. All the mods you have done are perfect.

Oh and just read the rest of this thread back :hahaha:

Be careful boys it's NOT a race when were doing the ring, and there are NO medals for being the quickest, or prizes for doing the most laps

Be safe be careful and leave the ego's in the hotel room.

Go and do the CSL cup if your wrapped up in time's, your on slicks, it's marshalled, there are medals and your times matter ! it's an awesome experience, and one ive missed this year

:smt055 Love you all still !

Yeah just been busy ( yes I have been busy ) :hahaha:

Really missed doing the CSL Cup this year like nothing ive missed ever, and it has given me a completely different perspective on doing the ring on TF especially as it's getting worse.

Want to save my money NOT have someone smash the CSL up and either do the VLN next year or a few races in the UK.

At least a track day is marshalled monitored and has rules to stop the dick heads ruining your day.

First stage or saving for racing again next year is im selling the Rays if anyone wants them ?

Will post up in for sale later, but there are more than enough pics on here with them on :hahaha:

Details here:

£1500 inc Del no offers there mint and in Matt Gunmetal ( Finish was 350 extra )

... now if they were still Bronze and had some CUPs on

Thats a bit pricey. My mate paid £1200 from thorney, brand new for 19s. They were the other style of Rays though, so i dont know if that makes a difference.
