Bit late to the party on this, however, thoroughly recommend them. Very pure and raw car, of which I really can't see them making again. I know it's a term that gets used a lot but steering feel etc. are superb.

Get them set up well (comments above re Chris at CoG are spot on) and they are a blast to drive.

Consumables very similar to a 996 turbo (radiators etc.) apart from that they are very reliable and very fast. Also less "shouty" than the newer GT models which in my eyes makes them easy to pootle about in, without being gawped at. Most people think they are a 996 turbo. Trick is finding one that hasn't been crashed. Mine is undergoing a thorough restoration at the moment (I never liked my bank balance :bigcry:), so if you have any questions happy to help!

Also should mention, flippin fast!

I think soon the 7.2RS will supercede the 991.1 RS as well.

It's a numbers game. 991 gt3 and RS are produced more much than the previous gen. In fact, rumoured to be about 6500 991 RS worldwide. which is ALOT considering the 7.2RS was only 2600.

996 GT2 is indeed a rare beast. I keep telling myself I should have bought 1 when they were selling them for 40+k

This.

Yes go for it and personally I would not bother spending anymore to get a worse car ie a GT3 991. I would be tempted by a RS though  (not 991 but 997 or 996 [circa £150,000 :bigcry:]). As said though the 996 range are the most analogue and involving cars you could want. Subsequent 997 and 991 have become less involving with paddle shift and PSM et cetera.

I look forward to seeing some pictures of the new purchase.

Anyway if the new GT3 991.2 goes back to being a manual I am sure the 991.1 will not hold its price.

Good luck.

Pip
