After a few years of harping on about wanting a BBK for the CSL, I finally got one and it was delivered last Friday, Fitted Saturday and Monday there, happy days.
Got the wheels done also by a Firm over here, top job I have to say although would like to see them next to OEM wheels, will be calling with JonnyS in due course, :supz:
Have to say, a very comprehensive kit, supplying even loctite for calliper and bracket bolts.
Only down side is DS2500 pads and of course AP front discs but I'll get to Pagids in due time.
All thanks to Alyn at AS Performance, top man and first class customer service.

love the new kit
red...some say so much better than black calipers
couldn't help noticing the axle stand in the picture. is it just the angle of the photo?..only the stand looks like it's in the centre of the floor!

I wanted the red kit cause it was louder, didn't want subtlety lol
The stand was in the middle of the floor (of the garage) but the weight was on the jack (Blue to the left). Can't remember where the stand was secured under, could have been the bolt hole for the exhaust mount but it was only there in case of jack failure, there was a stand under the front jacking point also.

Nice job, I have the same on mine with the pagids and I have to say they are amazing. I always thought I had enough brakes in my old M3 with really good fluid, pads and lines but these are in another league, especially with the Pagid RS29's!

Looks great. Fitted AP's to my car last year and haven't looked back. Puts into focus how useless the standard brakes were after a bit of spirited use. Definitely agree with Shimmy's advice - I used the DS2500s on track once and burnt them to pieces. Other lessons I have learned through painful experience:
- Don't fit Pagid RS5s (they smear the disc when hot) or PF01s (great pads, but too much dust and ruin your wheels)
- Bizarre one this, but don't leave the car stood too long with wet discs, which was cited by AP as the reason for my first set of front discs warping. I quote:
"There is a pad witness mark on all 4 discs brake faces, likelihood it was caused by being parked up for a longish period with the brakes wet. Not normally an issue but it was the cause the 2 brake faces to be out of parallel tolerance." Can't criticise AP though, who gave excellent service when I raised the issue and have generally been very helpful.

Good job all round, wheels look great and the Red Calipers make quite a statement. Hope you put some HP fluid in AP 660?
But sell those pads on ebay and put the money towards a set of RS29's before embarking on your transcontinental tour in May.

Yummy, big red calipers, my personal fave! If you're gonna do it, may as well shout about it. I have rs29's on my car and the brakes are sensational, they do shed quite a bit of dust mind.

Looks cool on the red calipers shame about your rusty old wheel bolts, don't use the DS2500's on track.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Agree with what everyone is saying about the pads, doubt there'd be much market for DS2500's would there?
Rusty wheel bolts? Yeah, I know but I've got 12mm spacers so need the extended wheel bolts. Wee blow over with some silver/black paint will tidy it all up a bit.
What are those pads like on the road though, spirited quick driving?
I think the callipers lose their bling when using all sorts of strong chemicals to clean them, so as long as use friendly wheel cleaners, I should be alright for a few years yet.

Your car looks bloody perfect now Baz  ( apart from the wheel bolts of course :birdman:)

Some people use DS2500 for road, and then swap onto pagids for track days:whistle: depends how many miles you do - I'd just sell them on cutters where they think ds2500 is a track pad :bigcry:
you could put a post up and see if anyone bites......

The pads that come with the Kits - Do they usually come in AP packaging with AP markings on the backs of the pads? I can't find anywhere where it says Ferrodo DS2500 but those are the pads I was told I'd be getting with the standard kits...

:smokin: you wont be disappointed. Keep the pads for road or just as spares, they dont take long to change

I use the DS2500s on the road and just change to RS29 for track. 30 minute job to swap them over.

PF01s (great pads, but too much dust and ruin your wheels)
How do they ruin the wheels ?
I am asking because I have set that I want to use.

They have a high metal content, so if the dust gets wet it rusts and welds itself to the wheels making it extremely difficult to remove.

Absolutely correct. This happened to me after a trip to the 'ring (where the wheels got covered in dust) and it rained on the way home. I didn't get chance to clean the car until a week later and excoriating the wheels took me over 3 hours :moan:
They were so damaged that I had to get them refurbed and even though they have metalmate protection now, I am still freaked out if there's any dust accumulating. What a tragic character I have become.
