What happens to the oil pressure after you fit this ?

Do you have any readings for the pressure with OEM and that ?

Should be fine Alex as it will allow a bit more oil capacity also, will post if i find this incorrect.

Very nice, looks very similar to the HPF Oil Cooler.

Did you try OEM cooler with blanking plug first or other coolers?

Alex, I got excellent results and no oil pressure drop.

Could you not just put the oil in the fridge?

25deg + ambients held oil temps much lower and delayed water temp rise. Ultimately didn't hold back the water but the oil temps don't rise at all past normal range. They did before and quite quickly.

What are the typical oil temps to see on track with the standard arrangement?

It is still playing on my mind the whole heat soak issue......

I see about 120-123 on track everytime. Which is why I was looking into oil coolers, but it seemed like nobody had ever put an oil cooler on a non race car M3 despite these temps. Oil coolers for the M3 are also 2 or 3 times the price of the average car aswell, unless you can make your own kit, and I wouldn't know where to start.

A few CSL have a/m oil coolers such as Turner and HPF etc.

Actually, I know of a couple of M3/ CSL specialists that run OEM oil coolers even on their race cars. One running completely standard and the other with thermostat blank. So even in the most extreme cases some dont upgrade oil coolers.

That seems okay to me (providing a suitable quality oil is used). In my Escort I use Titan Pro R 15w50, which is shear stable to 130+deg.

In 30 deg ambients, I see similar temps that you're seeing. I just change the oil regularly.

Ideally, you want to see 110 deg on a regular basis (so that any water that builds up from the condensation process is evaporated).

£500 oil cooler though. Wow!

You're the first person that doesn't own an M3 to tell me it's ok, everyone else nearly faints when I tell them!!

I use Castrol 10/60 as recommended for M engines. It gets changed every 7k miles

I wouldn't do it on a mileage basis, I'd change it after every second track day....
