HI

Still looking for a CSL , just incase anyone is thinking of selling. Ideally SG with Xenons.

Xenons aren't a big deal really.

Mine hasn't got them and I thought I'd miss them as previous car had them. But in reality most cars don't get driven a lot in the dark any more (most aren't dailies) and some decent bulbs are perfectly adquate.

Plus you save some weight and means a more purist CSL

I know you're right :) ...... I've got used to them on my current cars, keep forgetting we managed fine before Xenons ;)

Although, I live out in the sticks, and do quite a bit of driving at night through the Yorkshire Dales etc & it's then that you appreciate Xenons

To be honest, spec isn't really an issue, but definitely want SG

I went on a road trip to Yorkshire Dales in a brand new 62 Plate Boxster for my birthday in 2012. Stunning roads over there !!!!

The Dales are beautiful ... and luckily for me the Northern Dales, which have the best roads in the Dales, are on my doorstep. Also just North of me we have the roads of Teesdale which are amazing ( up around Alston)

yep, i hinted i'd sell mine and had pm's instantly! evlxge also had the same, with people happy to pay the full asking price ect. nick johnsons now out of csl stock, and the stock he had does'nt hang around!

now am i missing something, i personally think if prices were closer to 40k demand would still be there!

I had the same, I mentioned I was now living in New York and would consider selling and had a few of PM's from guys willing to travel to Ireland to pick up the car!

I think you can pretty much name your price at the minute

There are still 3 low mileage cars on the market the haven't sold yet ( hexagon cars and the Alex anton car ) , I'm assuming due to price ? I know of a 21k mile car that just sold to a dealer , and knowing what the dealer paid will be interesting to see if it sells quickly.

I believe NJ still has the 55k car

Cars at the 'right' price with the right spec / history / mileage from a resepcted dealer seem to be selling quickly .... Which is of course what most of us are looking for :smt055

Same here, have had PMs through here and PH. Mine goes in for its sub frame with Elms next week, once it's back I'll decide what to do. CLK63 Black that I was thinking of going for is now indefinitely delayed, so I'm in no particular rush.

Surprised NJ's cars sold so quick, he hadn't even seen them yesterday and they're both now accounted for.... wow. In the For Sale section here he did clearly allude to the fact he is selling cars to overseas buyers now.

Surely owners of csl's know that they are in demand at the moment. Why would you sell to a dealer. A sub 10K mile car and a 29K mile car would have a lot of interest on here. Makes me wonder if they ever existed? Would be a great way of bolstering up the prices of higher mileage cars. Perhaps I'm just too cynical?

I did think the same tbh, given NJ won't be paying market value, it begs the question why would anyone do it when there are at least five cash buyers just on this site who I'm sure would pay the asking price!

Gladly I'm no longer one of them :)

I guess like most things there's owners out there who aren't really internet savvy and don't know the exact/true value of their cars. Some people are also too lazy/rich to bother about getting the max price and go through the hassle of selling it themselves and find it easier just to unload it to a dealer for a price they are happy with. Just my opinion.

Just think if Top Gear or Fifth Gear did some sort of 10 year homage on the show in May........ think of the prices then :-D I also have a 1963 VW splitscreen bus that I bought in 2000. Around 3 or 4 years later that fat tounged fcuker Jamie Oliver bought one and prices absolutely rocketed and never came back down......

Yeah, but a Top Gear homage usually involves it being dropped from a crane! Mind you that would help prices I suppose

Just keep it. the cash you have invested is unlikely to be recovered at this stage.

Probably right!

Another issue is that I took my young son to look at the CLK63 Black Series at Romans the other day and he didn't like it, "I don't like it, it looks like gran's car"!!

He adores the CSL.

I think he's trying to tell you something, sell and you run the risk of ostracising your son, he'd never forgive you.
I've never forgotten the Old Mans Black 323i Bavaria, and look what it did to me. :hahaha:

Eventhough I was probably 5 yrs old at the time, I'll never forget the day my dad had his new E28 520i delivered. The looks and interior blew me away, the characteristic glow of the dash lights were amazing. BMW love affair began.

Then later we did a factory collection of a W124 Merc. Wow, another love. I plan to buy a W124 500E in the not too distant future, a remaining obsession.

Certainly staying for now ;)

I'm not going to follow up on the Romans CLK63, there is another one I'm interested in but the owner has taken a contract abroad for a while. He is looking to sell, but only when he gets back.

No point in me selling CSL and then waiting a few months without a toy just for him to return. Would drive me mad.

And I will not be putting CSL up for sale publicly, will just sell to an extended member of the Lagos family or on here through PM.

Choice M-B my friend but haven't you missed that boat already ? Finding a decent W124 500E is harder them finding a RHD Cecil and that's no easy task in itself

Couple of Pix below of my W124 500E I bought from it's original & only German owner back in 2007 which I owned for 2 years. I SOLD it to a German car dealer ( for his own collection, not retail stock ) who came all the way from Hamburg after seeing 5 ropey ones back home. He couldn't believe his luck when he came to view mine here in Cambridge and told me how hard it has become to find a clean, 1 owner 500E on the continent. Bought mine on the spot for the asking price and drove it back to Ze Fazerland on his German Trade plates.
I miss that old bus. :smt022

Lovely car, pretty much the colour combo I'm thinking of :)

To be honest, I have not been that fazed by the difficulty of finding a nice one, I keep a regular eye on mobile.de and autoscout24, loads for sale. Also, a work colleague based in Germany is a 500E fan too and is happy to help out with the process, that's key for me.

I don't expect to find one in the UK necessarily, though they are cheaper here than on the continent. I'd have bought the Avantgarde car if it was your colour combo. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mercedes-benz/e-class/mercedes-benz-500e-w124-official-uk-car/443215

I'd love to buy the E500 Limited, but some of those interior colours are wacky! SS Motors in Weybridge are pretty close to me, they'll be the ones looking after the car for me in all likelihood so I'm confident as long as I buy a straight car that any mechanical issues will be addressed by experts.
