View Full Version : Hexagon
Has anyone bought a car from Hexagon recently? I've done a search on here and saw some mixed reports - but mainly from a few years ago. Seems like there's been a fair bit of discussion about their prices being towards the upper end of the spectrum but I'm wondering whether the premium being added for buying from BMW main dealer would give peace of mind - if a car is from the dealer network I assume they've checked it out thoroughly - or is this being naive? The other thing with buying from them is not having to pay for the 12 month extended warranty (although I'm sure that's built into the price!).
cheers

simonI think what people are trying to say Simon,is that Hexagons cars are expensive even for a dealer.;)
hmmm. I'm looking to buy with longer term ownership in mind rather than having it for a year or so so am mentally justifying a higher purchase price to get a decent car but don't want to get my pants pulled down. I'll see what (if any) flexibility they've got in their pricing.

If a cars good, its good. Price sometimes has no reflection on this.

Didn't realise they had two in...
http://www.hexagon-bmw.co.uk/approved-used-bmw/bmw-m-range/bmw-m3-coupe.html
In short, yes they're at higher end and no, don't assume dealer car means issue free.
Going for the cheaper 04 car will give you more cover on the anti corrosion warranty (I think) but you've got a pimply arse (I prefer it clean, but that's just personal choice) and +5k miles.
All things being equal, I'd prob go for the older car with less miles if only £2k in it.....particularly if you are limiting your mileage.

Now everyone is going to get their arse cleaned up for the trip.:gayfight:
Wonder what they would ask for mine with 17K on the clock

They'd have to be asking late late 30's, maybe £40k?
I have kept an eye on Hexagon's ///M stock over the years, like-for-like they have continued to increase prices of the rarer models. There's a definite trend, look what's been happening to air cooled Porsche prices, same will happen to certain ///M cars, though on a lower trajectory.
It'd be nice if Elms sold CSLs, plenty of reassurance then in terms of how good the car had been prep'd.

With a car as old as a CSL (10 years now:119:), buy on condition alone, and IMO with a BMW warranty. Be it from private or dealer.
The likelihood of items failing is the same on any of them IMO, and just because you pay £5k more from a dealer does not mean it wont fail.
They do say there is no fool, like a fool with money:smokin::whistle:
If you pay £5k more from a dealer, than you could buy private with a warranty, with the same miles, same condition, it just means that if you come to sell, you will be taking a £5k hit. You could not ask for £5k more come resale, just because it WAS bought from a dealer 12 months previous.
Thats my take anyhow.

problem is .. where are all the private cars .. seem they end up going to dealers before hitting the open market. Only private I've found recently is up at Hexagon prices.
seems CSL's are good cash cows at the moment for dealers

Know anything about KV04 BFU Mark ? I'm sure it was mentioned in a thread on here at some point, but the thread's gone now...
Edited to add... also noticed they've got a low mileage white E46 M3 for £40K ! Not sure that's ever going to be a valuable classic, is it ?

out of interest, if I'm reading iot correct, there is a 6 year service history gap on one of these cars ? Is this typical of a lot of low mileage CSL's , the service has been done on mileage rather than months between ?
PDI check: 05/03/04 at BMW Wollaston Motors
Running-in Check: 16/07/04, 1114 miles at BMW Wollaston Motors

Ah! I recall this car, my brother went to see it in July 2010. A deal couldnt be agreed, I was getting constant updates from the showroom as I was in Dubai at the time. :)
Hot66 - indeed it's a shame more CSLs are not appearing here in the classifieds as private sales, however sellers have a reason for this I guess.
And yes, the service history on the car you have included does appear to indicate a 6 year gap which is pretty huge to be honest. A show stopper for me.
Though these cars are 10 years old, they are not old enough for these types of gaps not to matter.
Having said that, there are plenty of cars from the 70's / 80's / 90's as part of collections and general garage queens with very low mileages that have not strictly adhered to service intervals, it does not seem to matter to prospective owners when they get that old.

Does this 6 year gap affect BMW Warranty or when you transfer to BMW Insured Warranty ?

KV04BFU was advertised in Scotland in July last year for £30K with 31700 miles on it. Hexagon are unlikely to have paid more than £29K for it so flipping the car for £6K!!
FV53 LNW was advertised in November by Hexagon for £38995 with 27K on the clock, now it's £36995.....so they do occasionally reduce their prices!!
