Gentlemen,
I have recently been offered a position in Aberdeen with my employer, so will be moving from my home in Texas, USA. I currently have an e92 M3 and want to buy a CSL as it is the forbidden fruit back home.
I am currently in Aberdeen to get a feel for the place and if anyone knows of any CSLs for sale please let me know. I have been monitoring pistonheads and I am most interested in something around 40-60k miles as I'll be over here for about two - three years. Color does not matter, but I would definitely want one with A/C and a radio/CD player.
Thanks,
John

Congrats on the move. Clearly you've got your priorities in order if you are already hunting for a csl and planning to sell the e92. Any ideas of what the rules are like for bringing the csl back with you?

Honestly I had not even considered bringing it back. I was in the market for a 7.1 GT3 before being offered the position. When I heard, I figured it was a great opportunity to drive a car that I always wanted, but could never have in the states then sell it before moving back.

Maybe it is best that I introduce myself to the forum before proceeding. I am a Texas native working in the oil/gas industry since I graduated college. I currently own an '08 M3 that I bought in August of '08 with a tad over 3k miles. It now has 60k on it now and has served as my track car and daily driver in that time.

I am a diehard car guy and have made a number of important life decisions based around that. My previous cars include an e39 M5, a B5 S4 (w/RS4 turbos, assorted engine bits, suspension and BBK) and I co-owned a 996TT for two years.
I was recently offered a position in Aberdeen and figured that it would be the perfect time to own a car that I never had the chance to in the US. I have considered a 964 or 993 RS car, but they are more then I want to spend for what I want to do with the car. Based solely on convenience, a RS4 estate is still in the running, but a CSL is the clear leader at the moment. The proximity to some phenomenal roads and legendary tracks helped in my decision to move from Houston, Texas.
Thanks to all of you that have helped with information thus far. Hopefully it will not be long until I've got a CSL, however my current M3 may set a record for being one of the cheapest sold, non salvaged e92 M3s out there.

In fact, one of the board members has offered to let me come take a look at his car. I have yet to ever see a CSL in person, so I am very much looking forward to it.
Just want to say again, that I really appreciate the welcome and helpful information from members of this forum.

Well, I spent much of last year in Singapore and while I enjoyed it at first, it was way too cramped for me. Houston is cramped, but we have easy access to ranches and great coastal fishing. I am a big outdoorsman as well, so I am liking what I'm seeing so far. It is just a 2-3 year assignment.
Oh, and I really enjoy your whiskey.

It is when you're dove hunting. That's why they invented the 20 pack of Coronitas.

Very nice to meet you tonight John :smokin:
You spurred me on to actually drag the thing out the garage and give it a wash :hahaha:
I'll be sticking some tax on it at the end of the month so can go for a run out Royal Deeside if you are free before heading back to the States.

Honestly, I'd be honored, and now I have to get one. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to show me your car.

I have found that there are a lot of oilfield hands up here. I am waiting for our HR dept to put my expat package, visa, etc together. Don't know exactly when that will be, but should be around this summer. Would love to do the Munich trip, but will need a car first.

Well, its taken longer then I thought it would, but my move to Aberdeen has been approved by HR at my employer. Now to get my current e92 M3 sold and find a good CSL this summer.
