As it's the 10th anniversary of the E46 CSL it would be great if we could get a big turnmout at the Silverstone Classic from you guys...
Following the huge success of the 2012 Silverstone Classic and Z Fest the BMW Car Club is once again attending the event in July this year (26th to the 28th).
Last year we held the "Z" fest, this year we are extending it to cover both Z's and also now MPower cars, but this does not mean that you can't come along if you don't own either an M or a Z, we want as many BMW's on display as possible, we want to give the organisers a headache wondering how on earth they are going to accommodate us all!
The organisers have given us a parade lap on the Saturday evening between about 6pm and 7pm for the MPower and Z cars, it should be quite a spectacle!
All Club members and potential members are welcome to join us on the club's stand and we encourage you all to buy your tickets early as this is the cheapest option. The Silverstone Classic booking office has now opened and we have a club discount code (C13225, http://silverstoneclassic.seetickets.com/Event/Silverstone-Classic/Silverstone-Circuit/674815?OfferCode=C13225) you’ll need to use this code if you want to display with the BMW Car Club and take part in the parade lap. Right now you can get the tickets on a buy-one-get-one-free basis but that ends at the end of May (although it’s cheaper to get the tickets before the end of March).
As well as the display area and parade lap we have also organised a hotel reasonably close by at Crick and will be cruising in on the Saturday morning to a dedicated BMW Car Club entrance (this entrance is for us to use on all three days), the hotel details can be found here:
http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/northampton/rugnh/hoteldetail?groupCode=M4M
This hotel has been nominated as the MPower hotel (we have other hotels for the Z’s) but anyone can use the links if you are coming along and joining us on the display. The room rates depend on the room standard chosen, standard rooms are £40 per night and the executive rooms are £56 per night both without breakfast. If you book a breakfast online at the time of booking your room it is £10 per person per night, space is limited so book early. We will also have an option for bacon butty and coffee/tea on the Saturday morning for a small fee.
If you have questions about the hotels please email duncan@zroadster.org who will respond as soon as possible, we will then also post relevant Questions and Answers if necessary.
We would welcome and encourage anyone travelling in to the event on the Saturday to join us for the cruise in, so please arrive at the hotel in plenty of time (details of times to follow later) so that you can also have a bacon butty and a drink while you converse with other like-minded enthusiasts before the cruise to the track.
For updates and more details please check the BMW Car Club forum here: http://www.bmwccgbforum.co.uk/silverstone-classic-2013_topic8516.html?FID=1&PR=3
Hopefully we'll see you all there!

Interesting start, but went downhill after the first line. I expected to see a CSL Fest being the order of the day to celebrate the 10th Anni, but no!
May sound a bit elitist but I can park up any weekend amongst a stack of 'M' cars at the Trafford Center, why would I want to go to Silverstone to do the same.
PS: Only 'Club Members' can access the forum.:bigcry:

I was tempted to suggest a change of date and venue, but then I tought why bother, it's just a bit of PR on behalf of the BMW Car Club, anyway Estor's ill :supz:

Perhaps you might want to go the Silverstone Classic event and see the classic racing, or perhaps the evening entertainment, or then again the myriad of other car clubs in attendance? But never mind, I am sure they have all of this and more at the Trafford Center :119:
If it was a CSL Fest how many cars do you think you could muster, we had hoped to have a display of CSL's and also have them taking part in the parade lap?
Forum access is fixed for the post above, apologies for that, there's no more info on there yet though.

Not as far as I know, why do you want them to? The one at Gaydon each year is brilliant!

I know, it's a great day out. I've done it a few times in the recent past with a mate and a Tipo 450S what a hoot that was.:hahaha:
Don't take things on here too seriously, it's an owners venue to chat, interlopers are usually greeted with a degree of sceptisism.
How many CSL? I'd like to think 50+, but with all that's happening in May perhaps most will be conserving their tyres for the main event.:supz:

Do you guys want to park together on the club stand?
We are starting to look at the layout and plans for the stand area and have had requests from some forums to park up together, which is fine, but we could do with knowing how many cars you will be bringing so that we can allocate appropriate space.
Also, we would like you to "self organise" once in your allocated area, we don't want to be constantly marshaling cars on the stand and so expect each forum area "look after itself".
If you could let me know approx how many cars you'll be expecting, on the main day - Saturday, by the 6th June (nothing binding, just want to get an idea) that would be great.
Cheers.

Me and the Mrs should be at the holiday inn for 7:20 ish.
Looking to drive to Silverstone in the convoy as I have been thoroughly confused by all the different gate entrances mentioned in the BMW club emails.

Well Guys, it was good to meet up with you all.
Nice to see a few CSL's all together also - 5 in total.
Had a great day on the Saturday, but boy was it hot!
Anyone else have fun on the M1 afterwards with the thunderstorm?
Jimbo
28-07-2013, 06:10 PM
Yeah the M1 was interesting, could have done with a canoe!
I cant believe how fast people drive in those conditions, esp the 4x4 drivers who think they are immune from aquaplaning!
When it cleared a bit i was happily sat doing an indicated 85mph (thats about 79 on sat nav), plenty fast enough for a wet road with the wipers on, looked to the right, and i was being overtaken by a young girl in an old shape ford KA! These are the people who need speed awareness courses!
grrr.
