Gutted but have made the decision to pull out. Hotel works out too expensive for us needing 2 rooms, and the more we have thought about the "are we there yet" from the kids (they are young 3 & 4) the less we are feeling it. But on the bright side... I save a couple of thousand miles on the CSL.

Soon I will be closing the list and sorting out attendees and tours/visits so anybody not on the list when it closes (CSL owners) are likely to miss out on the MStudio, Preduction Tours, BMW Welt tours and possible special BMW Driver Training activity eve if they decide late on to come along.

Anybody marked down as a maybe will get some leeway for a week or two.

standard csl does the ring in 7min50seconds...... granted he was a fairly handy driver, but i have never been in another car that was so capable as standard ( cup tyres are a must tho :partyman:)

I finally had a moment and booked rooms both for Munich and Salzburg (but other hotels than suggested in the thread as Leonardo Royal claims to be full). Plus a good friend of mine will be joining me - he's the one who talked me into getting a CSL as he felt it's the right car for me... and right he was! Now that's what we all call a real friend! :smt023

Only open matter is spot for the Salzburgring but I'm sure I'll get an answer on that soon.

Thats exactly the plan, we will remove the tank and get one fabricated. It will be considerably cheaper than a genuine one!

If you are not speeding, the Polizei has no reason to punish you - except your CSL is not in original condition and even louder than normal. From the third CSL with pushed Sport button on, the Polizei will surrender... :wink:
I never had any problems with my CSL.

Just a though but... would it be worth calling Simpsons to ask if they have a standard set of OEM cams they could sell (or lease out) at a reasonable price to a CSLR member in need, until the NEW cams arrive. This way BMW will be re fitting GENUINE parts in the meantime to get Lee's Cecil back on the road for the Epic EURO trip :thumbs:

Sadly, the answer is no. There are lots of reasons.
My take:
The CSL was an expensive car to purchase in Germany back then. Heck, if you have a good example today it's still expensive. Thus mostly middle aged people with good income were able to afford the car. These same people have since then moved to Porsche or GTS e.g. and the once "big" CSL community has slowly dissolved. Add a spice of special personalities to each of the owners which in turn made a tight community even more difficult to keep together. Also, today these owners have families and thus other priorities in life.

Furthermore, the official statics from Jan. 2012 showed that in Germany 143 CSL's were registered. I wouldn't be surprised if that number is near 100 today. This adds to the difficulty of getting a good number of enthusiasts together.

I could add more but that is something we can talk about in Munich.

Yes that's correct - Shimmy has arranged a visit to AC Shnitzer Tue morning in place of the track day and I believe a few of the guys/gals are heading down down south for extended hols etc and mountain pass/tunnel hunting :-D

I believe there's a few of us around the corner in the Oedhof too...

Bit confused myself initially but I'm getting there, it's the age:smokin:
