Are you aware of this problem?
last week I collected my CSL from ELS Cambridge after installing a new clutch and flywheel. An expensive job but i guess worthwhile after 50K miles....
Gareth from ELMS inspected the car and discover a crack in the subframe underneath the boot.

Apparently this has been a common problem that can fixed under the BMW 10 years warranty paid by BMW GB.
ELMS have collected evidence of the crack (pictures) and sent them to the headquarter to get the authorisation to carry out the work under warranty. Apparently is a big job that require a special deliver from BMW and can take up to two weeks to repair.

I just hope the work will be carry out under warranty otherwise i suspect will be seriously expensive.:banghead:

Any experience with this before? should I be worried? I read that some crack can be rectified bu using a special foam...

It isn't the subframe the cracks ;)

Had mine sorted when the cage went in, had started to tear the floor.

I seem to remember ELMs offering a preventative hard compound fill into the sub frames a while ago. I am sure someone will confirm shortly. There was also some other company not a BMW dealer, that does some sort or repair or preventative maintenance.

Subframe cracking is such a common problem now.

Mine was diagnosed 3 weeks ago as well when my car was in for Inspection 1 at Elms, needs doing, waiting to see when Elms can fit me in too.

Hoping it won't be too long before they can!

I'm surprised you weren't advised to get the foam injected ASAP into the cavity since yours doesn't have the crack... yet

I called ELMS today and they told me I have to wait a bit longer as body shop is quite busy and they struggle to book me in. They said at least another couple of weeks. Anyway they have all the interest to do the job it is a complex and expensive job

Yeah I just spoke to Elm's this morning, BMW have approved the goodwill fix which is good.

According to their chap my car is the next one to be done, there is a queue of about 5-6 cars so they are mega busy.

Requested the M135i as a courtesy car, somehow I don't think i'll get it, better not be a Mini!

Great news ! Just on the courtesy car. The guys in my dealership I have got very friendly with and once when my almost new E60 M5 was in for work they handed my a mini key for my courtesy car and a second later a brand new black mini with massive lady bird stickers all over pulled up at the front door for me. My face was quite the picture as you can imagine. I went ballistic needless so say which was followed by laughter all around the building, fookers knew I would crack so had done it as a wind up. Even the dealer principle was in on the gag and he walked over laughing and handed me a key to a brand new 535d sport touring which was lovely.

haha brilliant!

Though last time I was in Elm's I ended up with a baby blue Mini Clubman....Emma thought it was highly amusing...actually a surprisingly fun car but still a Mini...having said that anything is better than the bus, and Malcolm at Elms said that he would try and get me a BMW of some sort but be prepared it might be a Mini!

How long did the repair take ?

10 days for mine at the ELMS bodyshop at Stanstead.
They also gave me a certification that states "the repair to the rear axle support was performed due to a premature failure of the part. This is not a repair due to an accident."
:)
