Hi there, I have driven this car today and wondered if anybody knew anything about it. To be honest I was quite impressed with it, it was genuinely started up from stone cold and drove smooth from the start and had no untoward valve rattles or noisy secondary air pump. At £26k and 62k it seems a good deal.... recent conti's, discs and pads etc... no subframe issues (although being a 12/03 car inside the goodwill repair)
Has anyone ever seen or heard of it? the seller actually seemed decent and honest enough !!

Reg is LK53 TZM although it's had a couple of private plates recently.

Hope the link works!

Thanks guys, interesting..... I don't know the two private plates although I was shown the docs but I didn't take too much interest. Being sold from a trader will always bump the price up I guess. The thing is I genuinely think the car is honest, the fact I can easily trade in two cars with it makes it so easy....I didn't think 63k was too bad a mileage? I will take my time and have a think, I've been looking at it since it was first advertised so its not flown out and maybe the seller will come down a bit.
Cheers.

Good quote.
Found this in a Bmw mag.Mere superlatives are actually not good enough to emphasise just how good the M3 CSL is in the metal, how deliciously deranged it sounds at high revs and what an amazing experience it is to drive one of them.It is certainly worth the extra money over a standard E46 M3, and once you have sampled an M3 CSL, i guarantee that it will take hold of your very soul and it wont let go.:supz:

Cheers all. I have always known about and loved the csl but thought I could live with 'just' an M3. Then one day I spotted this car only a few miles away, and there could only be one conclusion after the first test drive :hahaha: the thing is there is no bad review for the csl, fifth gears Tiff needel old youtube video, Jeremey Clarksons Isle of man film......countless mag reviews, all positive. It's obvious the car is so special when you drive it (and look at it), and I thought my standard M3 was one hell of a car but it's actually quite tame compared to a csl.
I can justify selling my beloved Mexico by the fact I'm replacing it with something very special and equally collectable.
Roll on next Wednesday

Lovely looking car. It was the same for everyone, 'greater than the sum of it's parts' about describes it. You've got to hand it to BMW for making them.

(now....just don't damage a flipper....we still don't have a supply chain up and running yet)

Thanks, even the Wife admits it's quite a car :hahaha: I had to take a pic of it as so many of my mates were asking if I had it yet !!

Unfortunately already have an issue with it pinking under load, posted in the tech section...:bigcry:

congraz. Now put an aftermarket exhaust on it. I found after installing a Agency V2 rep that the car breaths better and the blips sound like heaven. Enjoy, its a fab car. :smokin:

Yes, last Wednesday. Not missing it either!

How long did you have it? I've got 2 mark ones along with the CSL. My blue mk1 has a RS1800 zetec and my latest is a standard 1600 xflow... it's a shame you couldn't keep both. Anyway, everytime you look at the CSL, you won't miss the old Ford!

I bought it in 1987 as my first car with a lotus twin cam fitted but being 17 I couldn't insure it. I put a crossflow in it (& sold the TC for £150!) until 1989 ish when I did a full 5 year resto on it. I sold it in 1995 but bought it back again in 2009 from the same guy! The crossflow was so slow so I fitted a 161bhp 1700 burton crossflow that was a nightmare in that tune! 11.7:1 compression! But 99 octane fuel and it was a rocket!!! Like I said it took a lot to sell it but financially it was the only way and I don't think I've made the wrong decision :)

Definitely the right decision as you can use CSL everyday! Anyway, you'll probably end up buying the Escort back one day.

My hat goes off to you... Twin Cam engined Mk1 as a first car! My first was Rover 216... if only we knew what would increase in value... that TC engine is worth a penny or two now! The CSL should increase over time...

Well done and enjoy!
