View Full Version : CSL wanted
First post from a newbie.. I am on the look out for a SG CSL but either colour is fine,
Around 60k Miles with FBMWSH. I am looking for something I can run as a daily drive for next six months before squirreling it off and going offshore so condition doesn't have to be mint, but it needs to be sound with a warranty or having the option of putting a warranty on it, as it will be in daily use.
Budget is around £23k
Please PM / email me any details

you're budget may be a little short, if you can stretch it M500 CSL is the car for you.

Sensible expectation.....you may need to go +£1k with current demand.

I think £23k should be ok for a buying price for a 60-70k mile car. Don't be two put off by the number of people saying they are interested in buying a csl. People want different things and have different priorities.
The csl market is different to any other I have experienced. There are a lot more cars available for sale than openly advertised. Some cars that have been advertised over the last few months that have disappeared, suggesting they have sold, haven't and the owners have given up until spring or a serious buyer turn up. As I was told when I started looking, be patient and the right car will turn up, but don't assume it will be in the next week or so.
Also, having looked at a few cars now it is clear that there isn't a consistent price structure. Mileage or even the selling price is not always a reflected in the cars condition or history. Some higher mileage cars are in excellent condition and, in my experience, seem to be serviced correctly.
Good luck with your search.

the only issue with a £30K car is that is hard to justify its use. (personally)
Drive it and enjoy it, and it will become a sub £25k car.. leaving it in the garage and polishing it... is an option, but as an ex car junkie... it will not happen..
I remember buying a super car back in 2001, used it for 18 months and enjoyed it, went to trade in a new model and the sales man stood there mortified... his words were ' wow.. I never seen a used one of these before'
No doubt it is a lovely car, I did enquire about it.. think its probably sold 3 times over...

yes, I think the spread is £20k - £40K.. hoping to land something in my range.

thanks mate... also for the PM.. it seems people are personally attatched to their car..thus adding to the experience which is good for us future owners...
its nice to speak to sellers and they almost tell you bluntly the car is for sale (technically) but they are not selling  "decided to keep for longer"
I will take my time to find what I am looking for...

I think the problem is the CSL is a hard act to follow

I think that is a big problem that probably needs £40k extra on top of sale price to solve and even then is not a great leap forward really :(

Hello Okey and welcome to the Register most recent Questor, you make 9 currently treading these hallowed halls where CSL's tend to hide.:notworthy:
As has been said by 'cslsuperfan' your budget is a bit tight, £25-30K, should see you bagging a good one, but as Ramsden15 said take you time. (Sounds strangely familiar)
In the immortal words of 'Swiss Tony' buying a CSL "is like falling in love with a beautiful woman" by all means do, just don't get hitched until you're certain it's the right one for you :supz:

There's a 65k mile csl for £22.5k advertised on EVOs web site which looks to have been well serviced. Might be worth a look.

managed to prize the keys from a member last week... after a full inspection by BMW finally got a standard 2004 SG with 55k miles and just put on a comprehensive warranty.. trying not to drive it anymore, nor think about any new mods... need to get back to work... hope to meet up with other members on track in a couple of months...
