Hi all,

My steering makes a very whiny noise and vibrates when worked hard or when the engine is cold.

Faulty servo pump? Or simply in need of fresh oil?

On a more positive note, this is my CSL yesterday on the Furkapass, damn that was a handful in these conditions.

Sounds like the bearing might be on it's way out, you don't want it failing in places like that. :(
Worst case scenario if it fails the belts can get caught up, start flailing around and damage the rad/air con etc. So get it sorted ASAP otherwise it will be:bigcry: and lots of Euro's.

Mine did same a year ago. Oil level was low.
Unfortunately oil carrier is placed below airbox.

Good Luck

Thanks Roland, I'll give that a try first! Btw, if the oil carrier for the servo is located below the airbox, what is the oil carrier to the right of the airbox for? SMG hydraulics?

Yes oil container by the side of the air box is for smg... You need to remove the easy part of air box to get to power steering pot

If your reservoir is low its going somewhere, most likely the hose weaping,
Verycommon.

I have pipes and pump here, if you need anything.

Hi Lawsy, thanks for the offer!

I'm having it refilled here in Switzerland, going to the Nordschleife on Saturday - if re-filling it cures the whining that is - should the level drop again afterwards, you'll hear from me!

Had the car back from the dealer today. They've refilled the reservoir and it seems to be cured. Now to see how long the oil-level remains topped-up.
