I thought i would share this.
i went out in the CSL with the wife for lunch
after leaving the m8 that's when it happened a quick blast from the lights and it gave a chug that's a miss fire to you non Scots :hahaha: round the roundabout and all was good till i went up a small incline at the next roundabout it cut out hazards on and look at the fuel gauge light was on but showing 28 miles in the tank tried to start it
it chugged again and cut out.
Quick call to DAD and 20min sitting on a roundabout playing bejeweled 2
and some funny looks from the passing traffic :hahaha::hahaha:
any way a lady driving an Audi stopped with her man and asked if i needed any help and a man walked over from Aldi to see if he could help
Good to see there are people out there that will offer to help
Any way Fuel added and off we go :banghead::banghead:
I have run the car till it shows --- on the trip meter so cant figure out why it run out of fuel with 28m on the display
What a tit i felt i have never run out of fuel before :wanker::wanker::wanker:

That'll teach you to rely on Old Tech
Perhaps it was a protest, carrying additional weight.
Dad on a mission - they do come in handy and always dependable.:supz:

Hey Mark
E46s have issues with the tank level sensor.
It's a common fault.
I had ran out of fuel with 80km displayed in the range, when I had my E46 compact.
I know other people that had the same 'glitch'.
Best bet is always to watch the kms (or miles for you strange UK guys :blalalala:) traveled.
BTW, I know the stupid feeling.
My only time I ran out of fuel was with the E46 compact and felt like an idiot, having to push the car and then walk to a petrol station.

Oops! But glad it was sorted easily enough. I recall a tense drive with the indicator reading "0" and then getting stuck in traffic about a mile from the petrol station. Made it though!

Had the same exact problem. Even changed the fuel pump, but it was a plastic part on the sender that had failed. Do yourself a favor, just get it replaced. Depending on the mileage on the OE part, might consider getting the intank fuel pump changed as well...
