MOT and Full inspection carried out today, inspection report says in remarkable condition for a 10 year old car (they would say that wouldn't they) No cracks - phew, only two things were picked up, reservoir for the headlight washers leaking (didn't even know I had one) :119: and the offside Rear Shock was beginning to leak
Any contacts for shocks boys?
Have to replace come the spring in time for the trip :supz:

Only if Neil Ms Cecil is under 60K miles  otherwise it becomes costly :bigcry:

Thanks guys for the replies.
It's got a warranty and it's under 60K, but I've no experience of making a claim.
s.mac who would you advise Williams (Manchester, Bolton, Stockport, Rochdale) Halliwell Jones - Warrington, or Blue Bell - Wilmslow? I don't think it merits a trip to Elms but you never know.
I can foresee an issue arising over the replacement of only one shock and not both.

Lawsy would be the man to know the best around there, I too drive to Cambridge, although now my lad works at JCT600 BMW I think that might be my best option :-D

All suspension parts will be covered under 60k they will replace them for free
all you do is take it to your local BMW and tell them there is a knocking from the rear and let them find the problem unless you know the dealer then tell them it has a leeking shock

Forget Halliwell Jones. Tried to shaft me on several occasions. I got violent in the reception and the guy wouldnt come out the workshop. :gayfight:
Wheels uses bluebell Wilmslow. Although I used Murketts whilst Andy Pressland was around. I set off just after 5am and I was at the dealership before 8am. Back home for before lunchtime in the 1 series courtesy car.
I dont mind travelling, just done 250 miles first thing this morning picking up car parts.
What you need to say is in the politest way possible, is that if they dont do it under warranty you wont be getting them to do it, it will be in their best interest to do the warranty work then.
Some cut off their nose to spite their face.

Make an effort and drive down to Elms Camborne to avoid any potential problems. You'll almost certainly get a pair of rear shocks (as they meant to be changed in pairs) without any issues.
Emma & Gareth are the people to speak to @ Elms  Simples :-D

Thanks for that matt - my reluctance lies in the 500ml+ round trip and getting the time to do it.
I know from the experiences of others that Elms are the No.1, when it comes to the CSL fettling, I'll have a word with 'giraffe' and see what he says.
Thanks again chaps, it's much appreciated.

Neil, definately speak to the dealer first. I had mine booked in at Arden in Maidstone who said they would only replace the damaged shock and NOT both. I have since tried a dealer a little further away and they have agreed they would change them in pairs as per.
That reminds me I need to cancel my booking with Arden Maidstone. Anyone would think it was coming out of their own pocket :moan:.
All through warranty.
Pip
Ps The Gorilla was very helpful and I would have taken it to ELMs if my second choice did not come up trumps.

Thank you all for your words of wisdom and encouragement. I'll see what Blue Bell have to say early in the New Year.
