Just read there may be a new law passed in 2014 that will not allow traction control, etc to be switched off. Fooking interfering europrats. The good news is that older cars like cesil will become more desirable if people want to have fun.

Do you mean they'll just build cars without a "tc off" mode or it will be an offence to turn it off if you have the option ?

Track mode = grey area !

They won't make a law against the driver, just the manufacturer in making the cars.

Just wait when they will pass a law that the car cannot go faster than the speed limit.
Technology wise it's very easy to do (as most cars have GPS Navigation).

It's just a matter of time.

That's why I love the CSL.
It has all the electronics to make it go faster, not be anti-fun and gay.

That WILL happen over here very soon IMO.

They will restrict all cars to 80 mph I reckon, It will be like demolition man in a few years

The next step is going to be increasing the insurance premiums and road tax for cars of 'old technology' that are not as safe as the new ones.

The problem is the majority of people are volunteers in the 'Big Brother' technology.
i.e. I see so many people publishing their position and activity 24/7.

It's sad and depressing.-

Yep, the manufacturer will not be allowed to provide a facility to turn it off.

If you are old like me you will remember when we laughed at how free we were and how the people in communist countries were spied on. Now the amount of survalance in this country is a 1000 times worst. :bigcry: how things have changed.

I'm also worried how much info is stored in a modern cars black box to be used against you, frightening.

Uhm, yeah. Thats going to be a pain in the butt for countries that have alot of snow. Amount of cars being stuck in parkingspots, driveways etc will be quadruplebillionized.

Besides, if there wont be a fuse that you can rip off there will be a secret button sequence with what you can deactivate the TC, just like MB used to have. Or then aftermarket companies willl sort this problem out in like 3 days after the cars launch.

Well my brother was telling me about a court case, where an engineer from the factory came with a laptop, pulled all the telemetry data from the E60 of exactly what happened before the crash this E60 had.
You see the owner of the car was suing BMW that the airbag blew up without a reason.
All the data was stored in the car (speed, position, throttle, steering angle, acceleration, drift angle... etc etc).
He pulled the data and replayed the 'storyboard' in the court.

So apparently for many years now, BMWs have been storing in the ECU telemetry data and the firm can use it when someone is claiming the car didn't do what it was supposed to do.

As a side note.
In Switzerland for some years now AXA Winterthur is offering reduced insurance coverage, if you agree to have their GPS-telemetry blackbox in your car.
So in case you did something stupid, they can refuse to cover you
