View Full Version : Euro Trip - Thoughts on the Salzburgring

20-11-2012, 09:05 AM
We have potentially 75 CSLs and a few more cars.

I like to do new exciting tracks and this I one that I'd love to do, and possibly will never get the chance again.

See link, it is a fast circuit, sort of equivalent to a mix between Donny and Snetterton 200. DTM use it as well as motorbike racing and BmW use it for driver training around 50 times a year.

http://www.salzburgring.com/plaene/fotogalerie/index.php

I'm trying to see if costs will be acceptable circa £250-300, which will include food and coaches etc. do it on the Tuesday after Munich (drive over Monday night and back him e Tuesday night/Wednesday morning)

My preference would be to get BMW to book the Salzburgring for us and they have promised to bring 3 E92M3 and 3 driver coaches.

Nothing is guaranteed until the dates are out and we have paid up but I want to see if there is the potential willingness to attend and possible numbers.

Let me know your thoughts good and bad? :smt055

Here is what it will be like with the CSLs out at the first corner

Don't think we get to drive e93, just get race driver demos and they might jump in yours if they have time

I know who I'll be chasing and it starts with E92...

I did the BMW driver training at the Salzbergring a few years ago. In fact it was in the e46 then and I clapped my eyes on my first real CSL. I did not really know anything about them then and just assumed it was a privately modified M3. It was a German course and my knowledge of German was struggling to keep up.

It peed down with rain when on track but the upside was the hotel sat on the hill overlooking Salzberg and the ring was really nice.

I am a bit on pluses bout how to pay for this trAckday. I'm not gonna take a 15k risk so I guess I've somehow got to get in cash and pay it out. bmW won't do that I don't think.

I will ask and see!

It's gonna have to be in January as well I guess so early payments.

Yep, agreed Shim. I'd say as soon as TD confirmed we need everyone to pay full amount by a certain date and button it up early.

Happy to handle that if you want Shim.

top work shimmy, it's a pain for me organizing trips for me and seven of my friends, can imagine this is hard work, but gonna be worth it, top work

my cars currently been put back to standard and won't be advertised till march time. although having serious second thoughts and MAY do another year in her yet.

the original plan seemed more appealing to me-

Day 1 Calais to Stuttgart (Porsche museum) 475miles/7 hours
Day 2 Stuttgart to Munich (BMW Museum) 2 hours/150miles, and back to the Ring 5 hours/350miles
Day 3 Ring to Spa and home 4 hours/250 miles

although the current plan sounds good i'll be at munich on the saturday, then head over to the ring either saturday late afternoon or early sunday morning and spend till tuesday there. may try and fit spa in if dates are available over this weekend also.

To be fair, they do limit those days properly to 65 cars. When you consider there's 250+ on an MLR day you can see why the cost is so high.
