1. Chunnel around 6pm and head to the Ring overnight. Leave the Ring around 1pm Saturday to get to Munich

2. Chunnel around 8pm and drive to Brussels area overnight. early start 5 hiurs to Stuttgart (by 1pm). Three hours at the Porker museum and lunch. Then leave say 4pm and 2 hour dash to Munich for a shower and dinner.

I think a Friday depart is the best choice and for those that do proper jobs an evening departure after work would suit and allow us to get into Belgium/France a small distance so that Saturday travel is easy maye via Stuttgart or the Ring.

If one was to leave earlier Friday it might be possible to head to the Ring for an evening for what it is worth and even maybe a few laps Saturday morning before heading to Munich. We need to list down travel times from Calais-Ring-Munich, Calais-Stuttgart-Munich and back

Happy to go Friday - whatever time. Will prob be staying in Biggin Hill Thurs night - am sure someone on here lives there too so can meet up?

Where is best to stay for that Friday night? Anyone have any recommendations as some hotels don't have a room for 4 of us (have to book 2 rooms) so need to take that into account and book early.

To be honest, not bothered about Porsche museum so the Ring straight to Munich is good with us.

Won't be doing Salzburg (as it stands now) so will head back Monday or Tuesday - will take a look and see what sights there are en-route home.

I always go Harwich to the hook by overnight ferry,for me it saves a 130 mile trip to Dover ,also it's less miles to the ring from Holland about 80 miles so all in its around 340 mile saving on my low mileage warped and heated garage queen.:partyman:

Good shout :thumbs: I've done that trip few years ago in my Porker on the High Speed Day crossing :thumbs: and it's a much better/quicker/closer run down to the Ring, avoiding the Bruxells Ring Road :banghead: and the overall dullness of the E40 :smt015

Agreed i live only 10 miles from the harwich so its a very handy crossing.

Who is having work done on there CSL before the trip ,for me new tyres + wheels ref , just done break discs+ bolts and splitters, also a trip to ELMS for a health check, could do with front end repaint but will wait until I get back from the trip if I have some cash left from the strip bars and the charity auction, looking forward to the trip:thumbs:

Apparently it's : "truly magnificent. This behemoth is the stuff of Prussian knights on plumed chargers, it is a thrillingly romantic design. A medieval schloss overlooks it. There are lovely walks, echoing with busy woodpeckers, along the lake".

Maybe not an excursion for the Munich based members....

I did a diversion last year to The Bridge at Remagan near Cologne only to remember when I got there, they blew it up in the war. (and never rebuilt it) didn't take many photos.

If you do go to Edersee make sure you don't big it up, as 1600 locals and labourers died after the bombing.
