Was working in Perth earlier in the week, and decided to ignore the sat nav on the way home (cos I always know best!). Anyway ended up slightly off target as really wanted to avoid the A1 round Newcastle so did a re-jig.
I ended up taking the A70 between Edinburgh and Carnwath, what a road! Best mistake Ive made in a while! A twisting, yumping ribbon, brilliant! Unfortunately for me I was in the Diesel A3 work horse, but still worth it. I Then picked up Biggar Road and the A702 down to the M74, again a great road, but dull in comparison to the A70.
Any one local to those parts know this road? There were a few flowers laid along the road, so guess this may be a notorious spot.
Next time…..

There are a few great roads around there - A70, A706, A702, A703, A72. All very good especially early on a Sun morning! Some great little stretches of road in East Lothian too.

The A68 from Edinburgh to Newcastle is a nice road with a few interesting bits and very picturesque to boot. Just a shame about all the speed cameras (must be every 10 miles).

You missed my all time favourite road - the 701 aka The Beeftub. Fantastic bit of road with sweeping bends and twists. Alot quieter than the 702 as doesn't come up on satnav. Amazing scenery also. Used to run it every weekend to see the girlfriend. Couldn't do it any quicker in the CSL than I could with Cooper S though!

I was on a good road round there somewhere a couple of months ago, not sure of the name, was just following the nav, but we left Edinburgh for somewhere in Northumberland, main road was closed for road works so had to take a diversion.
Was a nice dry night tail end of summer about 9/10pm, only negative was the CSL was at home in the garage, well negatives... unfortunately the good roads motivated me a little to much & as you say there is a lot of cameras, I got nabbed back on the main road... twice!!
The next day we headed over to the Lake District, great roads about there, the CSL would have loved it!

Forgot about that one - it is a cracker too. Exactly why Evo based their eCoTY in the Borders this year.

Thought you lived in Dumfries?
Hard to beat the 75, heading for the midnight boat out of Stranraer!

I do, she lived in Edinburgh.
I looked forward to the drive more than anything else.. needless to say the relationship lasted longer than it should. I just couldn't bare to be without that road!
Have dreamed about the 75 being closed off - i wonder how quick it could be done. Best bit is from Twynholm onwards.
(not sure why pics above arent working?)

That could have been the Coldstream Road. It drops you out at Morpeth. :smokin:
