15km, 9.3miles, you can just about see the route on the google maps below. Leaves the current circuit at the end of Kemmell Straight (Les Combes) and meanders to a long back straight with chicane and then returns to the circuit at Stavelot.

Next time there I think we have to drive this.

I was only thinking this the other day :notworthy:

I love all the history about Spa, it seems ridiculous sat here now, why I haven't been rooting round those old back roads, I'd like to see the Masta kink, where jackie stewart nearly lost his life back in 1966.......

Old Spa holds the record for the fastest avg speed - Spa still holds the record for the fastest sports car race ever run. Pedro Rodriguez and Jackie Oliver averaged 156 m.p.h. for 1000 kilometers including pit stops in 1971. The record is unlikely ever to be broken. Courses that could, like Le Mans and Monza, have been adding chicanes for the past 40 years.

Good pics folks.

If you go out the blanchimont exit past the Karting circuit you will see the back gate. This is where the road links to tge original road.... Is pretty long must have been interesting!
Incidentally you can go out this way and along to another total petrol garage which may be useful to know about.

How do you get to that exit?

If you go past the back of the paddock and past where the petrol pumps are youll see a red sign that says blanchimont. You can go out that way

Here it is, just under the track at Stavelot and down the road a bit.

Trust you to know where the rear entrance is! :gayfight:

Those old drivers had some massive balls! Good chance if they had a big crash it would be their last with cars that must have been so unpredictable :notworthy:

Yes.. Hats off to these guys.
Read somewhere about the masta kink, where in a 70's 24 hr race Hans Stuck had told one of the co drivers to look out for body parts there. Wasnt bits of car, was a marshall. Ouch!

tre is a roundabout at the end of each part of the old track. we could run harrys on both and add them together and see what our av speed is

I'm not sure if any of you have seen this article, but it's very detailed and a great lunchtime read:

http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/08/spa-francorchamps-temple-speed/

Speedhunters have done some other good features on Monza and the old crystal palace track that are worth a read too.

That is not the rear entrance .
You have to go to the right at that gate .
You have to follow the "truck access" signs .
