So here is a couple of videos.

First video is from the second day, Wednesday 10th. it is a 2m 50.7s lap but you'll notice that at Blanchimont I get stopped up by an E46 M3 as I exit. Was hoping he'd move but I came up a bit quick. At that speed I didn't want to yank the wheel left and risk a spin. This lap was dead level at this point with my quicker lap the day before so this was heading for a low 2m 49s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jxIsQ8OKog&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The second video was of my fastest lap, which happened to be on the Tuesday afternoon. Here it is with a 2m 49.3s

Looks like me slowing you up, sorry. I was on a cooldown there, honest!

Your line through rivage is different to what I have been doing. I'll give that a try next time.

Cracking lap. That was a 2.49 without the traffic.

Lucky to get a day like that it October!

I've cleaned and retired the car until next year and watching that is doing me no good! Maybe I could do one more TD :banghead:

I think you are right. There was another guy in his silver m3 but he denied all knowledge. Forgot you had yours, anyway, no way you could have done anything as you were right on the exit, I was backing off as I turned in I think as the risk was pretty high I'd hit you at the wrong time.

Rivage is an interesting one, I'm sure SY would take that line as he seems to take loads of corners short. Maxx showed me the line, racers use it to stop undertakes but also because you save probably 6-8 metres at slow speed. Maxx proved that 60/70% of the corner you o no slower than the longer line and you don't really have any acceleration as the distance to "the corner with no name" is so short.

Also it terrifies the car in front :hahaha: seeing you brake into their door card.

Yep, I think looking at data all being equal that would have been very low 2m49.

I think gains at Eau Rouge (0.5s) and Pouhon (0.5s) are easy, plus other bots meaning You should be in he 2m47s band SY, maybe even 2m46-47s. I'd want a cage!

and yes with a bit of extra time saved in eau rouge that's gotta help all the way up the kemmel

Well i reckon had it been a real best lap of the day itwould have been 2m48.5ish (ideal lap) so with your better control i think you can carry more speed thru ER and B2 and as Jim says all the benefit of two massive straights that will be anoth 1-1.5sec benefit.

Great video shimmy, who's system is that recording your data :-D

I use Performance Box for my main data collection but the video and data on the screen was Harrys Laptimer Pro on the iphone4. SY used it at Donny and i bought for app £14.99. It works easy, combines data onto screen easy, uploads best laps to YT easy. Downsides are GPS is weak so 1hz isnt that accurate (you can get GPS 5hz attachment), the battery drains quickly and it uses loads of memery space.

But results are ok. Im havingt rouble with Tuesdays Harrys stuff as it seems to have a different start finish and gets a bit confused when you overaly data, but i will perservere

I said to you earlier in the year that a 2.47 was easilly doable.

Cage and Slicks its a walk in the park mate. My best lap at Spa had loads of holdups and was 2.52 dead and was like a sunday drive.

How much was down to slicks or the cage? But the cage did make a noticeable difference to the feel of the car. Who knows? I just know it was effortless doing that pace.

Great times Shimmy. Ill have to get back in an M in a yr or so and hunt you down:finga:

When you say difference a cage makes? does it handle better?

Yes. Chassis so much stiffer. NO flex in chassis at all.

As much as its fia for safety it just makes the car improved. And you can feel so much more too. (except in wet at Mira on shit tyres and you slide into barriers. :hahaha:)

Something like this maybe ? Had a good chin-wag with the owner last weekend @ the Ring about it... 1350 kg dry weight apparently with few extra ponies over the OEM 420 BHP.
Makes for an impressive set of BHP/Tone figures :supz:

Cracking lap!
IMO.... Up the Rouge you have 1/2 a sec to gain where your off the gas & loose speed going up the hill + Stavelot fast right before the straight - flat out! you feather the throttle.

2m48s low to high 2m47s no problem

That's where my ideal lap time gains, my best thru ER and B2 gain 0.5secs each and still more to get........

Top speed up Kemmel now up to 141.7mph before breaking (gps speed), that all comes from being on the power earlier but just as important, staying on and not lifting.

Only just really looked at your vid Shim.

Places where I can see improvement, well where I thought I went quicker.

-Eau rouge. I am back on full throttle at the lowest point in Eau rouge, just as the car compresses.

-Stavelot. I short shift just before this and take it flat.

-Blanchimont. I was further to right before corner entry and carried a little more speed. It meant I used a little more track on the exit. Scary- Yes.

The above is just what I did on those corners, your way might be quicker, who knows.

Great lap though mate:beer:

All true, I have been faster on all three corners you mention and Pouhon as well so things could def be better.

ER I did however get to 141GPSmph on Kemmel on 1 lap and I have never been faster up there (not saying I can't though)

Stavelot, I usually short shift for stability and power through, but sometimes I forget.

B2 I did try to lift at full seed in 5th and turn and Barry will tell you what happened :)

Makes no sense??? Short shifting going slower.

Was my first time at Spa on standard suspension / cups (June this year) and was easy flat. First apex is quite tight so feels like you will run out of road but keep her wide open! With intrax it's flat and some :-D

+ with your cheating slicks you should have been on rails round that right

It was a mixture of two, one was this Ultra Clamp but doesn't work if you have Rain Sensing Wipers!

http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/ultra-clamp.html

Then I had a iPhone holder that had a camara screw socket in the back so I just screwed it to it. I think it was a cheap version of this zorilla iPhone holder by put with legs removed, just needs a threaded socket like this one (mine was on the back)
