How much would you expect to pay for 2 rubber O rings and a tiny filter?? To give you a size idea the smaller O ring is the size of a 5p.

£17.93 for the 3 parts inc VAT :bigcry:
Glad it's not a regular change for the Vanos filter
At least come saturday afternoon I'll know that everything has been done and I'll be happy in the knowledge of that.

They may be a tad expensive for 3x small parts but a worthy change as these are not included in BMWs schedule for changing during servicing!
I did mine at the beginning of this year whilst changing oil in between services.
When you come to change yours. One thing I would say to be aware of is dont ruin or discard your old larger one of the two O-Rings, incase you decide to re-fit the old O-Ring.
I fitted my original back on as I was not happy with the fit of the new one BMW supplied and it was in perfect condition. It was not wide enough and different in shape, as I photographed below:

Cheers for the advice....
and no I didn't get any discount:bigcry::bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:
The car won't ever see a dealer (I just don't trust them I'm affraid) as a very good friend of mine owns his own garage so it will only ever visit there as I trust them 110% with all my previous cars:thumbs:
Plus the fact I work as a parts manager in the after market so supply all my own parts etc:smokin:

No probs Steve.
An additional photo of New vs Old filter - changed at +/-40k.

A fair bit of contamination found on the outside of the filter. Doing its job well.
Not as bad as some I've seen.

Thanks again....
I have a file full of receipts but can't see this ever being done, I'm thinking do it before an issue occours (I'm a bit "anal" about that lol and thats the reason I'm changing everything now so I know where I stand regarding servicing etc).

Can we have a sticky on how to do this if BMW don't include in "normal" servicing?

Was a very very easy thing to replace, well under a 5 minute job. The old filter was black as the ace of spades, I used both seals as at £5 each I wasn't going to loose 1 somewhere in the garage lol.
I'd say for anyone who hasn't replaced it for the sake of £20 it's worth it just for piece of mind.
I'd say all the jobs I did saturday were easy, even getting to the engine oil dipstick wasn't hard just long winded.
