View Full Version : Breaking my CSL- many aftermarket parts

After a little accident, I have had a big think, and fell out of love.

It is with heavy heart I am doing this, and I have not made this decision lightly. Its caused me BIG headache thats for sure.

The rear quarter is a very cheap easy repair.

The car has an FIA full weld in cage completed by Simpsons motorsport earlier this year. This cost me £6500. This is a perfect oppurtunity to enter a race series as car is basically ready to go.

I am not going to commence breaking until late Oct/begining Nov as the works diary is too full to squeeze it in, and also I would consider selling as the car is now for the right price, so will give it a month to sell as is first. I will however reserve parts for people, should the car not sell.

Car has done 60k miles and has been pampered. Silver grey.

Engine is 100% and matches CSL's with brand new engines for pace/power.

Parts below in no particular order. And there may be parts missed off.
Some prices not listed, as I am still researching these prices, so please be patient.

- CSL Engine w/ ECU, Wiring and Ancillaries £4995

Holy sh1t Shane, did I miss a massive thread somewhere, this is the first I'm hearing of this. After you spend so much on the car with so much effort put into it, you don't deserve this. Sorry to hear mate, good luck with the sale(s) hopefully someone will buy it as a whole. IMO, that's a cheap track car for someone.

So sorry to hear of your accident Shane ...

Would like first right to the following bits if the car does get parted out:

- CSL carbon fibre radio blanking plate £20
- CSL Gear Knob £20
- Front Hubs £300 pair (maybe on this one)
- A/B/C Pillars (I presume you mean the interior trim pieces??)

Thank you.

Really sorry to hear this Lawsy

I ought to buy a load of bits for mine but I fear my marriage would crumble if the garage would fill up with them so I'll keep my cheque book tucked away.

Onwards and upwards!

Have you tried Simpsons for a quick early sale.

Sorry to hear this Lawsy, there a few bits I would be interested eg: Brakes. and your not that far from me. It's a bit like Vultures to praying on dead meat, but lets hope it doesn't come to that and your motor meets a more dignified end, it deserves to sell whole.:bigcry:

It is not an expensive repair, but more money stripping, although I would prefer to sell as a whole for ease.

Sorry to hear this Shane. It would be a real shame to sell it in bits so I hope someone comes along in the next few weeks and buys it as a whole car.
If I didn't have my Cecil already this would have made a GREAT little winter project for me.
Best of luck, whichever way it goes.

Sorry to hear this Lawsy, what a pain after so much work has gone into the car.

I know a chap who's looking to upgrade and run a CSL in the Nurburgring 24hr so I have passed the thread link onto him. If you PM your details I can pass them to him also. Would be ideal what with the cage and all the upgrades so hopefully he'll take the whole lot.

If you do break it please can you put me down for:

My list on the advert totals to over £30k in bits. Obviously people will try to offer on those, so I see a solid £25k in bits. £20k to buy it is a very good price considering I can get it all sorted and painted for a few £k.

But I've lost heart mate. I have provisionally sold over £10k worth of bits should the breaking commence, so I'm not too fussed which way it goes now.

It is gutting, but these things are sent to try us.

Sorry to hear the news. Always a shame when another bites the dust although hopefully someone will buy and repair it. I hope that you will give us the full SP on what happened once it is sold or broken up. It is always a good reminder for track enthusiasts like myself (Nordschleife or Spa by chance?).

I will take the CF steering wheels trim if it has not gone already.

I am 100% breaking the car now.

I have to read through all my emails and PM's from this and other sites, and organise who asked for what first, and then get back to people who enquired.

I have had that much interest in the bits, its unreal. So please bear with me. I will be updating the list tonight.

Shame to see the end of the car :( but end of day if you can make the money via parts (parts > the Sum) then go for it. I think M3Cutters guys have got first dibs on it it seems.

If I am not first on purchase and came in a close second keep me informed if the winner plays around :) as will send the money across asap.

it is meant to be 0.5m at 45degees 3/4 rev limit

Snett make you do 6000rpm whereas Bedford 4500rpm, mainly because they know only driveby is really relevantNice one Shim,I'll give it a go tomorrow with the iPhone app and see what happens.

Let's hope you get passed the Donny noise police :)

Just make sure it's nice and warm. It's louder when cold. Very snarly, but quietens right down when hot.

I've never had an issue and iirc last time out at oulton it was 97db with 100 cell cats and resonated centre.

Sounds good, bit deeper low down up to 2500rpm, at motorway speeds sounds oem:supz:.

Had it corner weighted today, 1414kg before with rear seats removed and nearly 3/4s fuel.

After with exhaust fitted and pump/triangle removed from boot 1389kg:supz:

Back again! nice touch

Fancy another go at Donny as a last td this year:thumbs:

iPhone app is crap. They are supposed to take reading about 1m away at a angle but they all shove it up the exhaust.

Barry mines 1467 with me, over half a tank of fuel, nothing removed and all sorts of Yantos porno mags in the boot.
