Guys and Girls

I have offered to help organise some regular CSL owners meets, as I don't see anything really happening on here or MTorque for CSL owners.

Now I'm sure many of you own or have owned Elise's Impreza's, Evo's, Cosworths, etc and are well aware of regular meets, so thought it would be good to try to kick start something similar for CSL owners. You know, meet up somewhere in your region, have a blast through the country lanes and park up and chat, have some lunch at a good pub, etc...

Also, I am involved with organising a few track days a year and would be good to get a few of these organised for CSL drivers - more details to follow later in a different thread.

Now I'm in Portsmouth, and happy to act as the South/ South East organiser, and as such would like to suggest a meet in between Christmas and New Year - you know the time of year when you're bored at home and missing work, etc... :) I will create a thread soon in the Events section about this, but would like to ask people to register an interest in this thread initially.

I know there aren't all that many CSLs around, but it would be good if someone in say the Midlands/ Up North/ Scotland/ Wales, etc could try to organise the same for your own regions. I would suggest quartlerly meets to make it something to look forward to along with a once a year National Meet - something to get the BMW car mags involved with, etc.

Anyway, I'm full of ideas and think that for now I've spouted off enough, so time for you guys to respond to this thread please with your thoughts.

Cheers

Terry

Midlands meet and drive would be good!
I did put a post about a CSL Register Track day at Oulton Park like
there was this year but had no replies! I dont mind sorting meets, track days etc in the Midlands!

I an the events co-ordinator for the North East BMW CC, so am happy to cover the NE.

But I think there is only me in Durham & RichW in Yorkshire!!!

We should look into have a CSL Register annual meet for 2009 though. Somewhere central to allow as many members a chance of attending, maybe around a track day?

Mark, what do you think?

I'm in Norfolk but don't mind traveling for a meet of a track day.

It's really hard to organise area meets with the CSL because of how many there are. When I had the Lotus it was very easy, but lots of travelling with the CSL.

More than willing to look at a South Wales to Cornmall meet as I think there may be around 4 or 5 that are in the area, but probably worth looking at one big Summer meet/weekend.....I don't now what but maybe something like the new CSL race meet (if it happens). Just needs to be something that people are willing to travel for.

I would go to a South West one - North Devon/Somerset/Avon would be within range. I'm down in Cornwall again from next summer - the back of beyond! :smt012

I'm certainly up for meets elsewhere, especially if I can combine a track day to make the trip even more worthwhile!

Am I right in that the proposed CSL race series will be a support race for the Britcar series? If so, here are the 2009 Britcar dates, maybe we could do something at Silverstone or Donnington?

Still be up for a track day though!

Date/s Circuit Length
28th March 2009 ** Silverstone (International) 120 Minutes
2nd - 4th May 2009 ** Donington Park (Grand Prix) 2 x 90 Minutes

I will def go to Castle Combe being 25 mins away and Donungton could be a good meet as a bit more central....unless you live in Scotland like Mark of course.

WOW great response peeps, thank you. :)

I would like to think if we can start with quarterley meets in the regions, say 3 times a year with the other quarter being a National meet at a track - Oulton or Donno gets my vote

Also would be very keen to get a good few CSLs together to go to the Ring - show the GT3 RS brigade that CSLs can do it in big numbers too :)

Cheers

06 - 07 June Brands Hatch
04 - 05 July Donington Park
18 -19 July Castle Combe

Donington looks like a good date, and the most central for 'national meet', anyone up for that?

Anyone got any contacts with the circuit/organisers so that we could have a dedicated area to park/display?

Andy, I'm sure we could get a few together and do a South Wales & South West meet. I'm in Abergavenny. Castle Combe would be a good venue. I've got a busy year coming up but will also try to get to a few csl race meets if they go ahead.

May I suggest not going in convoy if ring trips are made - I don't know if anyone heard about the circuit days episode a month or two ago but many cars were impounded and missed the track day at the ring - the rest of europe are not taking too kindly to us brits heading over en masse.

I would be well up for Donny & Oulton meets. I don't have the time to go out for random meets but if there is a track day with a load of other csls' then I would make an extra effort.

I may be able to negotiate a slightly preferential rate with bookatrack.com at Donny if we get enough interest.

May I also suggest that if a group of us doa track day and don't have insurance in our normal policies, I will probably be able to get a decent deal with competition car insurance to cover 10+ cars for a track day. Or Richard Eggar insurance.

Cheers

Rich
