How much can a dealership disclose to you about a car they have seen but does not belong to them and still privately owned. I.e a car they have serviced. Do they have to have owners consent?

I've phoned main dealer many times with a reg' number and asked them to verify they have serviced the vehicle as per service book

im my experience quite a lot depending on who you talk to but they will never disclose previous owner details quite rightly.

I know some places do "health" checks. Would they discuss that and any findings?

Personal details/prices etc should not be disclosed, but the history mileage is OK in my book.

We phone mercedes from time to time to check history, 90% tell us. 10% don't tell us, spouting confidentiality laws etc.

Then Mercedes call us regularly to check service history on cars we have serviced. I oblige, because I'm not a knobber:smokin:

What info are you after?

Nothing just yet lawsy, I'm just working out what I'm "entitled" to as my next purchase will most probably be private.

Think its a lottery who you get on the phone tbh.

I bought an M3 a few yrs back, phoned the dealers and they told me everything, wishing me luck with the purchase.

Dont phone the premium rate line.
