So im looking for a set of tyres for the CSL to replace its front N1 Porsche Michelins and its rear Goodyear F1's as i'd much rather have a full set, Whats sensible money to get a set of cups for ? Im not likley going to be doing track days but want some really good boots for it, other options are Sport 2's or some Pilot SuperSports.

If there is little difference in cost then I guess cups are best? I you guys have used a lot more variations than me so will give me an honest opinion.

If your not doing any trackdays I would personally go for the Michelin pilot supersports. You won't really want to be tip toeing around in all this standing water when you can get one of the best road tyres going and if you do the odd trackday they are more than up to the job IMHO of course. And they are quite a bit cheaper than cups.;)

Cups are crap in the wet and not the best for every day use.

My vote is
Cheap tyre Falken 452 (great i have them on my csl )
Expensive tyre Pilot SuperSports OR PS2.

Great thanks,

I do rate Falken 452's very highly I have them on my E36 M3 and they are good i just feel the CSL deserves a bit better, ill check out Supersports.

Cheers

Come on Shimmy your a man of the world that forces your views on everyone, ill do a euro trip perhaps once a year, the car will be garaged and not used every day, high and dry days to be honest, my initial thought was wanting a CSL to be as good as it can and should be. As I said my tyres arnt due to be replaced but odd tyres front to rear boils my piss, give me your view.....

If dry days, might as well get the bad boy cups. The are fine in the wet/damp but do not like standing water so if it does rain on your euro trip just dont go tanking it about.

Next in line I would go Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 or Michelin Super sports.

Im running the goodyears on my 19 inch rims and find them a great tyre and plenty of grip in the wet BUT in the dry they don't come close to the cups.

I also like the Goodyear Asy's too, very good road tyre if you're not tracking the car.

I've had supersports on for the last 3k miles. Brilliant tyre for road and a bit of track use. They haven't had a particularly easy life, couple of track days and mainly Sunday afternoon runs out and they are wearing incredibly well.

However I want cups again :smokin:

Where are people buying from at the moment? Camskill seems to be just under 1k. I'm sure this is a good 200 quid cheaper than last time I looked. Have they come down in price recently?

Got mine from ATS because they gave me a half decent price and are just down the road, but Camskill would have been cheaper.

ATS giving £50 of Sainsburys fuel vouchers for 2 Cups if bought by end of July. Price for 295/38/18 are £20 more than Camskill. But the price is fitted and with £25 of fuel voucher per tyre then ATS are well priced currently

Thats a great price for 19 inch. Just make sure they have them in stock and will deliver within a week otherwise your be waiting for a couple of months.

In the end I went for a set of Michelin Pilot Supersports as I guess they would be a little more usable for me, had them and geometry set up today.

Michelin own ATS and Event Tyres so ought to be able to do a deal.

Popped into ATS yesterday to see what they could do before I order from camskill. ATS £1270 and wouldn't knock a penny off.

Camskill £976 :smokin:
