afternoon kids
im planning a trip to germany in september and stopping off in luxenburg on rought to see family then on to the ring for a bit followed by munich for oktoberfest then back.
it will be my first big trip in the CSL and cant wait to get stuck into it but i was wondering if any of you seasoned pros have any not to miss roads iv have to take on the way down and also any spares like relays ect ect that can be prone to giving up, id hate to be down there an a £5 fuse or somthing ballses the week up.

Ear-plugs and plenty of Euro for speeding fines :-D
Seriously though, they are buggers these days, so be careful!
As for spares on a 'new' car like yours Jon (and one in such impeccable condition may I say :notworthy:) there is little you can take really. I suppose a fan belt could cause embrrassment and there is the requirement for the spare bulb kit (though this isn't much help with xenons). The spare wheel is an excellent idea, so long as it fits. Perhaps leave the E92 on bricks while you are away and take one of the wheels, as that is better than driving on tyre foam at 50 mph?
Don't forget the damned breathalizer kit that is now law in France and also your reflective jersey.
I'm so glad you are enjoying the car in the manner to which it had become accustomed. I am off to the Le Mans Classic in a 40-year old csl on Friday. Now for that trip I am taking a boot full of spares and most of my tools! Different car......

Fill up with juice in Luxembourg, but you probably already know that:thumbs:
There are hundreds of great roads on the way, but I ( must be a masochist) always like to go the same way- down the concrete road that straddles the belgo-german border from Eupen to Monschau. It is a truly terrible road:thumbs: but then its just fantastic smooth german B-roads all the way(258)
currywurst und chips from the cafe at breidscheid
Hi vis vests for all occupants of the car, inside the car
and apparently those cheese eating french idiots now require you to have a disposable breathalyser in your car aswell:moan:

Can I ask why a xenon spare bulb is no help? Surely they are not dealer only changes ie not DiY.

I have xenon bulbs that are non oem, they cost approx £30 for 2. They work, so no excuse really. They are not hard to change. Bit fiddly with dickfingers, but very easy.

I just think he meant spare bulb kit does to have xenon bulb in it....so have to buy separately.

Cheers Shimmy. So is there any specific procedure involved ie do you have to disconnect the battery first. I take it the unit is dangerous only because it is like a capacitor and holds a large amount of charge.
I have a spare and only remember that it has a big warning sticker over the headlight assembly.

Going by my personal experience, having owned a 27,000 mile CSL for 5 weeks and driven it to the south of France where I am now on Sunday, Take a good Mondial warranty as after 600 miles driving on Sunday mine wouldnt start on Monday and its now in the dealers being taken to bits to have the starter replaced. Its toss but im so glad i had the warranty in place.

Just make sure your ignition is off and the headlight switch is off.
They have a big connector block that goes on the back of the bulb. This turns approx 60* then pulls off the bulb. You then remove the bulb, taking note of the orientation. Refit in reverse order.
Can be fiddly, but if you are good with your fingers its fine. If youre a clumsy fucker it will be awkward.
